Publisher's summary

Don't miss an action-packed, hilarious, heart-warming moment of the best-selling series that inspired the hit movies!

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III's best friend, Fishlegs, has been stung by the deadly Venomous Vorpent! The only cure is the Vegetable-That-No-One-Dares-Name. But where will Hiccup find such a thing?

He'll have to dodge the terrible Sharkworms, battle Doomfangs, and outwit crazy Hooligans if he's going to be a Hero (again). A fast paced plot, plenty of action, slapstick humor, witty dialogue, and imaginative black and white illustrations make this fourth adventure in Cressida Cowell's beloved and best-selling How to Train Your Dragon series a must-listen.

What is a true friend ?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to be listened to, by any age !!!
It has a moral to the whole story, team work + true friends !!

What did you like best about this story?

I truly enjoyed each page as I heard them. Disappearing, in to the story ! To pick one part is hard. If I had to choose,
I guess, the best part is the last two chapters. What a friend would do, to help another friend !! Hiccup + Fish Legs. Both, are tested !!

What about David Tennant’s performance did you like?

He places the listener, in the story. Excellent with the variety of voices he does, to perfection !! I enjoyed each of David Tennant's, characters !!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Did not have the time with children's attention spans. But yes, I shall, listen to this in its entirety !!

Any additional comments?

If you listen + like this book. Check out books # 1, 2, 3 & 4 !!
Just as thrilling but truly different stories. Except the Viking part + dragons :-)

Awful rendition of Toothless almost ruined book

The story itself took a while to develop - at least when listening in small incremental episodes with my kid - but once the book hits its stride, it is a fun and compelling listen. That said, I almost didn't get that far because the rendition of Toothless was, in a word, unforgivable. The decision to portray Toothless as a whiny, petulant, toddler is completely at odds with the movie depiction and I absolutely hated the voice over chosen for his character. So much so that I almost quit the book. Fortunately, as the story picks up, Toothless becomes less integral to the story and one can listen in peace.

Wonderful old fashioned story

First let me say, the music used to introduce a new chapter has improved.
I have enjoyed David Tennant's acting in everything from Casanova to Dr Who to Hamlet to Decoy Bride to Broadchurch, to name just a few of his acting jobs. I also love his readings of the Dr Who audible books. However, I must say, he absolutely shines in matching the author's tone when he reads the books in this series. His ability to create unique voices for so many characters is amazing!
I was surprised at how unlike the wonderful "How to Train Your Dragon" the books are but like un-identical twins, I love them both. Like the movies, the books have characters who are strong and well formed but I think the book's lessons have greater depth. The humor as written by Cowell and read with "tongue in cheek" by Tennant is my greatest joy. And who came up with those hilarious names? You can just see the characters as they romp through the books. These books have something for young and old alike

great

This is a great book for listening to on long car rides with young boys (or girls). The Dr does an amazing job at setting voices for each character and the music give a bit extra to the experience.

Fantastic series

Tennant’s narration is perfect for this series up uplifting, don’t be scarred, you can face the day books. The orchestral music bolsters the authors words and skillfully enhances the story. Tenant and the composed original music complete the masterpieces of fiction sculpted by the author. The series is suitable for any age and inspires and reminds us of what is important in life. Moving forward, making the choices that are correct even when others may frown on those choices, from building friendships to thinking under pressure, to doing what right especially when not easy peasy to do. Hold your head high and don’t give in to bullies. Do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. Joyful and playful lessons for life. Lessons for leadership; humbleness, tact, follow when it is right to do so and don’t when it isn’t. The clever contrarian stands his ground.

Great book! As good as all the other books.

Better than some of the other books. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Like the plot twist of it being Hiccup who actaully gets bit by the venemous vorpent.
