Narrator's fake accent a huge turnoff

I don't love this like other McCloskey books. The story is okay, and the kids liked it. But the narrator uses a fake hillbilly/southern accent that not only grates to listen to, but makes all the characters seem slow-witted and unintelligent. Quirky doesn't have to sound inane. Really can't recommend this audiobook.

CHildhood Fun!

Homer price is a fascinating young man who encounters many adventures in his small town. This book takes you back to a time when life was simpler and childhood was a time of freedom to explore and learn. I loved this book as a child and I am glad my children have been able to enjoy it too. My six year old had an eye injury and had to keep her eyes shut for a couple days and this was a wonderful treat to be able to pull out for her to listen to. The tears vanished and the smiles and giggles began as she listened to the stories about Homer Price. The older children would wander near and then have to stay and listen awhile too. This is just good plain fun!

Charming

Charming little book with sweet vignette-type chapters. A little like Tom Sawyer in our minds.

Entertaining for the whole family!

We have a wide range of ages in our family, and all enjoyed this book. The reader is very good... good listening for a road trip!

entertaining

My kids and i have already listened to this entertaining book several times. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who like childish antics and somewhat comically ridiculous storylines. Mr. Ferreri has many choices that really add to the story.
