Publisher's Summary

Meet Maxwell Kane, narrator of Freak the Mighty. He's a timid soul stuck in the body of a teenage giant with size 14 shoes. Haunted by a dark secret in his past, he hides out in his basement room, avoiding the world. But when a new kid moves in next door, Max's life changes forever. The two outcasts form the "normal" world team up to become "Freak the Mighty".

Like knights of old, they defend the weak, right every wrong - and solve the mystery of Max's past - proving once and for all that courage comes in all sizes.

Great book and message!

This book is perfect for middle school and up. As an adult, I was thoroughly entertained. The language was witty, yet understandable for younger kids. The naration was excellent.

Could be better!

Some middle school students that heard the recording were not hoocked by the voice. Great for older students who have a difficulty reading the book.

Freak the Mighty

This was my first audio book I have ever listened to. I really enjoyed the book and this was some great writing. I can't wait to see the movie now! There is some material that in my opinion would not be suited for a young child. It was good!

Great story

The performance was lack luster perhaps by design. Just wish there had been a touch more emotion. The story is supposed to be written as though someone were talking and not writing.
