Publisher's summary

The original series from the master of fright - now a major motion picture in theaters August 7, 2015!

Amy's ventriloquist dummy, Dennis, has lost his head...for real. So Amy begs her family for a new dummy. That's when her dad finds Slappy in a local pawnshop. Slappy's kind of ugly, but at least his head stays on! Amy loves practicing her new comedy routine. It's like this dummy knows what she's thinking. Like he can move by himself. And it's a lot of fun...until Slappy starts a routine of his own. A nasty, horrible routine that isn't funny at all. Slappy may have a new owner, but he's up to the same old tricks....

Nostalgic Listening

I've recently went back and started listening to Goosebumps audiobooks to relive some of that nostalgia from when I was a kid. This has been a true blessing to have these as I have a long commute to work and it greatly helps the time fly by.

Classic Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy 2

Introduction

In the icy realms of HowlStrom, where the eternal winter reigns supreme, I, Kiba Snowpaw, the alpha lone Ice Wolf, find solace and warmth in the enigmatic dance of words and stories. Amidst the frosty solitude, a book, a tale of eerie silence and haunting echoes, finds its way into my frosty paws. "Night of the Living Dummy 2" by R.L. Stine, a narrative that chills the bones yet ignites the soul, akin to the icy flames of my homeland.

Basic Plot Summary

Amy Kramer, a young girl with a penchant for ventriloquism, finds her world turned upside down when Slappy, a sinister dummy with a sinister grin, enters her life. As the icy winds howl and the snow blankets HowlStrom, I delve into Amy’s tumultuous journey, where every corner turned is a dance with eerie shadows and unsettling echoes.

Analysis/Evaluation

In the icy silence of my world, the echoes of Slappy’s sinister laughter resonate, a haunting melody amidst the frosty solitude. Stine crafts a narrative as chilling as the icy winds of HowlStrom, where every page turned is a dance with the unknown, the eerie, the unsettling. The narrative, though aimed at the young, finds a haunting echo in the soul of an Ice Wolf of 36 winters.

Characters

Amy, a soul as fiery as the icy flames of my magic, battles the sinister puppetry of Slappy. In the frosty echoes of my solitude, I find a kinship with her struggle, a dance with the eerie and the unknown. Her family, a chaotic symphony of disbelief and skepticism, amplifies the haunting melody of Amy’s eerie dance with Slappy.

Structure

Stine’s narrative, a haunting echo of sinister laughter and eerie silences, is as structured as the icy formations of HowlStrom. Each chapter, a frosty pathway into the eerie dance of Amy and Slappy, is crafted with the precision of the icy winds carving sculptures in the eternal winters of my homeland.

Hook and Thesis

As the alpha lone Ice Wolf, my soul, forged in the icy flames of solitude and eternal winter, finds a haunting kinship with Amy’s eerie dance with Slappy. It’s a narrative that chills yet ignites, a journey of eerie echoes and sinister laughter.

Praise and Critique

Stine’s narrative prowess is as potent as the icy winds of HowlStrom. Yet, amidst the praise, a critique echoes - the rapid culmination, a swift dance to the finale, leaves the soul yearning, akin to the eternal winters longing for the touch of spring.

In the icy echoes of solitude, "Night of the Living Dummy 2" is a haunting melody, a narrative that chills yet warms, akin to the icy flames of HowlStrom. It’s a journey that resonates, an eerie dance with the sinister and the unknown.
