Publisher's Summary

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book," thought Alice "without pictures or conversations?"

So she was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.

There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself, "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late!" (when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

    "A well narrated classic"

The world knows Alice from Disney cartoons and Disney movies. The world NEEDS to know Alice from the actual story. There are subtle things that are missing from the Disney interpretations. The authors creation is brought to vivid life in your imagination by a rich voice. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    "Good audiobook"
What did you love best about Alice in Wonderland?

It is a classic story read in an original way, respecting the plot and the feelings of the characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character is my favorite.

Which character – as performed by Jack de Golia – was your favorite?

The queen was performed also very good.

    Any additional comments?

I`m ashamed to say that I`ve never read this story before. I`ve watched movies and loved them all, but for my first read/listen I really enjoyed this very much.
    Narrative was fantastic, really enjoyable.

"Madness and hilarity put to voice"

Jack de Golia shows his incredible and entertaining range of voice characterizations as he performs this classic. I laughed out loud during scenes with more characters, such as the interplay between cards, croquet players and the queen. The exchange between Alice, the gryphon and the mock turtle, culminating riotously in the mock turtle's sob-choked song 'Beautiful Soup'. Outstanding 5 star performance, thanks!

    "Love this version"
If you could sum up Alice in Wonderland in three words, what would they be?

    Classic youthful wonder

What does Jack de Golia bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

its hard to say but he for sure has an energy that is nice to hear

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Kind of, it made me super happy.

I have not heard this book read to me since I was a child. I absolutely adore this book. I think it should be read to every little girl out there. It brought back many memories of childhood.

"An Enjoyable re-do of a Classic Tale"

First of all, I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

With that out of the way, I can honestly say that this particular audio adaptation is geared for a child's ears, as well it should. The narrator's almost sing-song voice served well as my grandson's eyes lit up several times while listening to the story. The right voice and inflections are so important to keep young folks listening to any story; not to mention giving an individual "voice" for each character.

I hadn't listened to this tale in quite some time and, although I find it rather fascinating, I have often wondered whether this was the type of story/message one wants to give to their children; maybe I took Gracie Slick's message to heart. LOL

Anyway, I gave the story only 4-stars due to the questionable context (drug induced) of the "adventure," but that in no way should be seen as a reflection of this particular production. The naration and overall performance are easily 5-stars.

I hope this review is found to be helpful to in making you listening and buying choices.

"A True Family Classic by Lewis Carroll!!!"

It was fun to spend time with Alice in Wonderland again in this Classic version narrated by Jack de Golia. The Lewis Carroll story stands the test of time and is well worth the investment of a credit. This is a listening treat for all ages as we get to hear the classic story in all its glory. Pick it up you will be glad you did. Jack de Golia provides excellent narration in this timeless tale. This is the second performance that I have heard and I really do enjoy his work. You will not be disappointed.I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    "A Classic Bit of Nonsense"

You've been living down a rabbit hole if you've never read or watched Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland! Even if you've never seen the original cartoon or the new remakes, it's such a part of everyday life that you've probably quoted it a time or two. It's worth a revisit as an adult, when you can easily grasp the humor and enjoy the absolute absurdity of it all.

I haven't read the book since I was a little girl, and it wasn't until I listened to this audio version that I realized just what a ridiculous and wonderful story it is. The tea party, Cheshire Cat, and croquet match are familiar scenes, but there are others like poor Bill the Lizard and the lobster quadrille that are not as well known but are just as wonderful.

Jack de Golia does an excellent job with the character voices. He gives each character life and I can easily visualize each one as he speaks. I enjoyed this professional production and the little details like when multiple characters are speaking at once.

If, like me, you find yourself wondering just where Carroll came up with this topsy turvy story, check out the documentary The Secret Life of Lewis Carroll. It's a fascinating look at the background of this book and it's available on youtube. This book was gifted to me from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an honest review.
