Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn series Brandon Sanderson continues the epic adventure he began in Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians.

So now you've heard all about me, Alcatraz Smedry, and how I was swept out of my life in your normal world and into the fight against the Librarians (jerks!). After being all heroic and stuff in that tale, I didn’t expect to charge headlong into enemy territory: the Library of Alexandria, where I—and my grandpa and my grouchy bodyguard Bastille and her even grouchier mother and some weirdly gifted cousins—run across the Curators (ghosts who will gladly help you check out a book as long as you don’t mind giving up your mortal soul) and some new nasty Librarians who hate our guts … and would be happy to rip them out for us.

But none of that comes close to the horror we will have to face if we succeed in finding what we’re searching for … MY DAD! (DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!)

The Scrivener’s Bones is the second book in this action-packed fantasy series for young listeners.

Douglas Adams, Starter Kit

LIE BRARIANS
Everything you think you know is a lie. Geography, physics, math, science, history, etc.. are all lies, feed to you by librarians. They control the information, and they are using it to take over the world. You are a HUSH LANDER and you probably don't even know about the FREE LANDS. Did you know that there is an ocean between Europe and Asia?

ALCATRAZ
The characters in this book have names like ALCATRAZ, BASTILLE, AUSTRALIA, AND LEAVENWORTH. These characters often have special talents like, Breaking things, always arriving late, getting lost or waking up ugly. Come to think of it, I have some of these talents.

I AM A LIAR
This book is more about the humor than the story. There are several burst out loud moments. While I thought it was funny, I prefer something with a plot, but Douglas Adam fans and younger listeners may love this. I will not continue the series, but recommend it highly to those who love humorous books.

OCAMPO
The narrator does an excellent job. In an audio book, the narrator is very important and even more so in a funny book. Not everyone can get the timing right. To be a good narrator for a funny book, you almost have to be a comedian yourself. What is written is important, but how it is read can be even more important.

The sequel was also quite good!

I like Sanderson, but I did not think he could be as good in YA as he is in his other works. I was wrong - very wrong. If you are like me and did not think he would be as good, believe me, you, too, might be very wrong. Good job Brandon! Keep 'em coming!

Best "Biography" Ever!!!

This is the most entertaining "biography" I have ever red!

To those in the hush lands: This fiction is soooo funny and good, Brandon Sanderson is a gifted and a great author, and his fantasy books are big and fat. Alcatraz gets used to his powers and to his abilities, and get introduced to new characters, which most of them are really funny.. Just wait until you get introduced to the "List"!!!

To the 3 Kingdoms:
This biography of Alcatraz was an eye opener, you get to know so much about your hero and who he really is, and how he dealt with all those evil librarians..

P.S. You will laugh a lot... so avoid drinks and food while listening to it... :)

Funny, exciting and twisted

Any additional comments?

Brandon Sanderson has become one of my favorite authors since he took on the daunting task of completing the wheel of time series started by Robert Jordan. I haven't read another author with so many different original ideas on the use or sources of magical type powers and abilities. He is a master craftsman in the ways of imagination.

Ramon de Ocampo does an outstanding job bringing each of the characters to life. The book jumps from drama to commentary and back to drama at every turn, but he handled it expertly.

Brandon Sanderson strikes again.

This is a fun whimsical story. My wife and I have enjoyed taking this on summer road trips. This is a silly and fun adventure.

Sanderson is clever, I get it, but it gets tedious

Interjections become annoying. Half as many would have been twice as funny. If he is so opposed to literary traditions why have the hero go through obligatory hand-wringing?

Masterful use of the Narrator

I really like the commentaries from the author between the action. It’s either hilarious or it’s really informative which ever reality you live in.

Favorite Brandon Sanderson Series

I am listening to these books in the car on the way to school each morning with my grandsons (ages 6, 7, 11, and 13). We are absolutely LOVING this series!! It is very well written, and funny, with enough twists and turns to keep us wondering and wanting more at the end of each drive.
