I love American Girl

I have been a long time collector of the American Girl dolls and I just love the story of all of the Historical Characters. I am almost 22 years old and I still love reading the books. Addy's story was so heartwarming and so sweet she and her family never gave up on freedom and still keeping their faith to be going on the dreams of being together.

My 8 yr old daughter didn't want to stop listening

Would you consider the audio edition of Addy to be better than the print version?

This was a great book for my daughter to read along with her 6 book series. She finished the books within two weeks. I've tried to get her to read them on her own for a year! Audio books really open up the world of reading for kids who have a hard time staying focused, and saves parents Voices in more ways than one :)

WOW, this one is a keeper

I am an adult collector of AG dolls and I absolutely loved this book. Can't get enough of it. Will be listening many times. Its a difficult story of difficult life, but strangely, it gives me comfort when I am faced with trials.

Beautiful book!

I grew up listening to this book. I always loved it. It's definitely educational and entertaining. I feel like I'm in the world as I'm listening to it. Struggles that are in it very difficult to hear. But it is history and I'm glad we've come a long way since then.

LOVED this!

If you could sum up Addy in three words, what would they be?

Smart, resourceful, thoughtful

What was one of the most memorable moments of Addy?

When she learned what having a true friend meant.

What does Cynthia Adams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is spectacular at changing voices, providing accents, and demonstrating the emotion in the passage. Soooo well done! We loved her voice!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made us gag when Addy had to eat the worms she'd missed on the tobacco plants. It made us cry when Addy's brother and father were sold and when Addy and her mother had to leave Esther and her aunt and uncle. It made us rejoice when the family was slowly reunited. Beautiful story!

Any additional comments?

Loved the story! Loves the narrator! Thank you for offering this selection.
