Grandma's Approval

What did you love best about 10 Classic Children's Stories Volume 1?

This book took me back to my childhood days when my parents and grandparents read me these stories. Now that I am a grandma, I love to pass these stories on to my grandchildren and we can listen to them together or they can listen to them on their own with their phone or computers.

What other book might you compare 10 Classic Children's Stories Volume 1 to and why?

This book had a wonderful collection of stories and it reminded me of the many books that I use to hear growing up. I look forward to additional volumes to come.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite story was "The Three Bears". I love to play it for my grandchildren when they come over and we laugh together. The collection of stories was unique and there were also many my grandchildren had not heard before. It was nice to have a variety to choose from as they were all wonderful choices. The grandchildren listened to them over and over again.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh as I recalled many wonderful memories after hearing the stories. The narrator, Kevin Hayes did a fantastic job at telling these stories as his voice seemed to hold my grandchildren's attention. He caught my attention as well.

Any additional comments?

Kevin Hayes did a wonderful job with the narration. He helped to make the stories come alive again. I would purchase more books with him as narrator. I don't know how many are going to be in this series, but I will be looking for more.

Outstanding

What did you love best about 10 Classic Children's Stories Volume 1?

I loved the selection of stories and the narrator's rendition of them. I am a college professor of Children's Literature and am able to utilize the readings of these stories in teaching students about the traditional literature genre.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Three Little Pigs was my favorite story. The version that Linda Hayes chose was fabulous. Very few stories out there have that ending in their version. The narrator was able to pull off each character separately in an easy listening and fun manner.

What about Kevin Hayes’s performance did you like?

Kevin Hayes has an amazing voice. As you're listening, his voice seems to put you right in the story and keeps you coming back for more. I would love to hear more stories with him as narrator. As for my college kids, they are able to hear what a professional storyteller sounds like and were able to pick up strategies from him which allowed them to practice their skills in reading stories aloud.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me SMILE. Each story was unique in its own fashion and being able to listen to it made it even better. Kevin Hayes' voice was so calming and when I needed a minute to relax, I could count on listening to one of his stories to help.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to other teachers, parents, grandparents, or anyone who just loves a good story. I noticed that this book is titled as Volume I. I am hopeful that there will be many more volumes to come. I will be able to utilize this book in many ways and hopefully many more from Linda and Kevin.
