Publisher's summary

After countless attempts to speak with the owner of the retreat for troubled teens she runs on the outskirts of Lone Tree, Montana, Caitlin Myers resorts to kidnapping Brandon ‘The Ogre of Lone Tree’ Barnes in a desperate attempt to change his mind about turning Stoney Brook into a vacation resort for the wealthy.

Retired rodeo star, Dalton Barnes, gets the surprise of his life when he’s abducted by a soft-spoken female with a ‘gun’ and taken to the retreat his family owns. He soon learns she’s kidnapped the wrong cowboy by mistake. She wanted his brother. Things go from bad to worse when a late spring snowstorm strands them together at the cabin. But it’s during their snow-in that Dalton learns why Caitlin has gone to such lengths to save Stoney Brook. Having had issues with his older brother himself and a not so happy past, Dalton promises to do what he can to help her.

When confronted Brandon tells Dalton he’ll hold off on his plans for the retreat, but only if Dalton agrees to stick around and help run it. Keeping his promise to Caitlin, Dalton agrees and what starts out as a common goal to turn the troubled teens’ lives around that summer ends up turning theirs around as well. Can a man who has always avoided putting down roots and a woman with a deep-seated fear of abandonment hang on to the happiness they’ve found together? Or will the past return to threaten their newfound love?

Love, laughter and a heartwarming read…

Sexy Cowboy Fun

The audio version of this book was a well paced, sexy read. Kaleo is the perfect narrator for this story and did a great job of drawing me into it.

The characters are very likeable and the story itself was also well-paced. When Caitlin and Dalton became stranded together I was ready for a storyline that has been done to death but I was pleasantly surprised when it took of on a route I wasn't expect. I especially enjoyed the interaction between Brandon and Dalton. I thought them overcoming their differences and coming to an understanding was a really nice touch.

Caitlin is fun--very clumsy!--and kind hearted as is Dalton. They are an excellent match for one another. I sometimes found her to be a little naive considering she was meant to have had quite a tough upbringing. I'm actually not all that into really gritty back stories so I was glad it wasn't something that was played on over and over but I would have liked her past to haunt her just a little more. Sometimes when she dealt with the teens on the camp, I felt she seemed inexperienced, especially when Dalton took over, in spite of him having very little understanding of these kids.

Aside from that this is a story of substance and a great fun read. It's not all just sex and actually the sex scenes were fairly few and far between--a rarity these days and a refreshing one at that. Don't get me wrong, they were hot. How could they fail to be with Dalton in the room? But Caitlin and Dalton spent plenty of time getting to know one another outside of the bedroom and I found that really added to the development of their relationship.

Those who love cowboy reads will enjoy this, whether you like a bit of steam or prefer a strong storyline. You will love listening to Kaleo and this is the perfect book for snuggling up in bed with.

Smexy Cowboy Romance

This is a terrific read! I was in the mood for a sweet and spicy romance, that's just what Ms. Brookes serves up!

I love Caitlin and her schemes, that go awry. She has her heart in the right place, she just seems to be a touch accident prone. That adds to her love-ability! I did find some of her reactions at the beginning of camp a touch untrue, she has been running this place for years, she should be more adept at controlling things from the start. Fortunately, she shows real skill throughout the time with the kids, even if she is a bit too rule heavy.

Dalton is a great character, he has a sense of humor and rolls with the punches. I adore his relationship with Caitlin, he fights the commitment but totally goes in for the attraction. They balance each other very nicely. I also liked the interactions with his brother.

The bedroom door is wide open in this book, plenty of naughty little scenes! They are not full on erotic detail, but they are plenty spicy! Definitely a fan of skinny dipping!! Hells Yeah!

I really enjoyed the build of the relationship. They spent time together so the feelings felt real and natural. Sometimes I like to spend time getting to know the characters as they get to know each other. It adds to the warm fuzzies of the romance.

This is a mixed narrative, giving POV for both leads and from the brother a couple times. This helps make the story fuller and more engaging. This also makes me really want his brother Brandon to get his own book with a sassy HEA!!! Please say it is in the works!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kaleo Griffith, he is delicious!! Oh yeah, this guy has a great voice and adds major energy to the read. He has a nice gruff tone that suits the guys and does a terrific job making Caitlin sound like a girl. Great pace on the read, I like things a touch on the brisk side, so he made me very happy, especially when I put it on triple speed.

I did think there would be more of a conflict with the money manager, I was a touch disappointed with that angle. It was more of a whimper than a bang in the conflict. The story moves nicely but that added drama would have been welcome.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, but what isn't there to love a big ole cowboy, smexy action and a sassy gal! I am definitely going to look for more of Ms. Brookes. Finger's crossed that this has a sequel with an uptight rancher who need a little lovin.

Cute

If you could sum up Kidnapped Cowboy in three words, what would they be?

Cute, corny, light-hearted

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really

Any additional comments?

This book is quirky. No super-hot scenes. Has a good, easy story line to follow. I did not like the female's voice. I am not much on submissive female characters. It isn't worth a credit, but if you catch it on sale, it's worth adding to your library for a cold day cleaning house.

Really good read..

Any additional comments?

Dalton and Caitlin were a perfect hero and heroine. I have to tell you I'm real tired of so many books all full of angst and misunderstandings. This was a great romance without all that crap! I do hope there's a book about Dalton's brother Brandon, and if there's not, there should be.
BTW, there some nice sexual tension in this story and then, of course, sex.

As to the narrator: I'm not really big on male narrators but I thought Mr. Griffith did an excellent job on all the voices.

Fun Contemporary Cowboy Romance

Any additional comments?

This was a fun contemporary cowboy romance, brought to life with a great narration from Kaleo Griffith who brought out the humor in the story. The dialogue was fun and witty, with a few laugh out loud moments (making my coworkers question my sanity while I was listening at work). The author did a great job with putting the characters in funny and awkward situations. Dalton was all cowboy, while Caitlin was a bit dingy at times, but I loved all her funny comebacks and silly situations she got herself into, and she wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for Dalton's brother, Brandon.

Absolutely Loved This!

Which character – as performed by Kaleo Griffith – was your favorite?

Obviously I loved Dalton but I really liked Caitlin just as much. I think that the brother, Brandon will make for a wonderful story too so I'm really hoping there will be a sequel. Kaleo did a fantastic job with both male and female characters! He was very funny too and very appealing in the passionate moments. He did a great job!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it actually was and so I did even though it was about seven and a half hours long!

Any additional comments?

It's a lovely story. Gets to you right from the beginning. Very well written. Funny, passionate, interesting story line even for the secondary characters. Everyone was just as interesting. I really did enjoy this lovely romance.

A romance with depth

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that the silly kidnapping setup evolved into a story with depth, where all the characters grew and developed. Although the romance was the central story element, the other parts of the characters' lives were important to the story and to the ending.

What does Kaleo Griffith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Kaleo Griffith sounds like a real cowboy. He brought Dalton to life.

Any additional comments?

Although Kaleo Griffith did a great Dalton, I wasn't that impressed with his range for voicing the other characters. I had to take off a star from my performance rating because it was hard to get past that.

Awh! Sweet, heartwarming story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! Sweet and sexy story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Caitlin was feisty and likable, and Dalton was tough but endearing, especially when it came to Caitlin.

What other book might you compare Kidnapped Cowboy to and why?

This was my first cowboy themed romance, but I do listen to a lot of romance novels, and I found this one to have quite an original premise.

What does Kaleo Griffith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's got a smooth, sexy voice in the narrative, but a gruff, Southern voice in the male character. He helps bring the story to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It actually just took me two sittings, but I could have listened all in one sitting if I'd been on a long car trip or something like that. I'll just say I only turned it off because I had to!

Any additional comments?

Very cute, sweet story. I hope the story of Dalton's brother Brandon will be out soon!

Kidnapped ...no not really

Not the best book ever. Great story line but the main character is incredibly wet for someone who was so bad that 'society had given up on her' & she attended the retreat. It fact she is annoying. One minute she is flat on her back saying yes .....she is playing the innocent virgin. Not even any really hot bits. A real shame it just does not get where it promised.
