Publisher's summary

Kara has serious doubts about herself after the birth of twins. She had no idea it would be so hard taking care of one baby, let alone two. With her self-esteem fading into oblivion, she's forced to choose between being a mom and having the career she always wanted. Kara is stubborn and refuses to ask anyone for help, even her husband.

Dave loves his wife and new daughters more than anything, but since the girls were born, he feels Kara slipping further away from him. Will Kara realize she doesn't have to conquer the world alone and find her way back to Dave? Will her meddling mother-in-law use this opportunity to sabotage her and Dave's marriage?

Quick and hot

This is a great depiction of what happens when a couple has a baby. Kara has been focused on their twins and not her own desires. She feels like her body has changed and shuts her husband out. They are able to get a weekend together alone and passion takes over. Melanie James does a fantastic job with this whole series!

Loving this series!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Kara & Dave to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, only because I absolutely love listening to Hollie Jackson tell the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Kara.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

I love how she brings the story and the characters to life.

Any additional comments?

I could really relate to Kara. Having twins myself you go through many emotions. Not feeling pretty anymore and thinking your husband feels the same way you do about yourself. I love how this series examines the real problems that occur in a marriage, and yet the couple's love for each other prevail above all else.

Kara & Dave

What did you love best about Kara & Dave?

I love how true to life the characters are. It's easy to relate to Kara & Dave or any of their friends. And of course, we all have that one family member....

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kara is my favorite, I can understand her frustration with being a new mom, feeling like you should be able to do everything yourself, and all the changes that come with being a new parent.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

Hollie always does a fantastic job bringing the characters and story to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I just had to laugh when Dave found out some of the things his mother was doing to Kara, his wife. I love the "dinner" he put together.

Relatable

Melanie James’s short story about meddling family was relatable in so many ways! Thank goodness Kara’s husband Dave was so supportive and patient in their relationship!! Gah!! Dave’s mother was the mother-in-law from Hell!!👿 It’s wonderful to see successful solutions to marital issues. Hollie Jackson’s performance was great.

Relatable

I feel like this is a very relatable book. I'm sure many women feelt his way after giving birth. Especially to twins. I've read two books in this series so far and both have been great. Very humbling.

Poor Kara has the mother inlaw from HELL !!

Where does Kara & Dave rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed listening to Kara & Dave it ranks right up there high with the others.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kara & Dave?

When Kara finally puts her mother inlaw Victoria in her place. That woman has put Kara through the ringer for years.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Dave surprises his wife with a weekend getaway to show her how much he still wants her and finds her attractive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I grunted alot on the parts of Victoria. She is a woman on a mission to ruin her son's life.

Any additional comments?

The narrator does a fantastic job at getting the story out there and the reactions in her voice bring it to life.

Marriage Therapy

This book 2 is much like book 1 in the series as it's about a married couple "on the rocks" who get some good advice from their neighbors on Eveiller Drive. What happens next is very explicit make-up sex, tastefully done, and everyone gets a "happy ending."
