In the summer of 2008, climbers from across the globe gather at the foot of one of the deadliest mountains on earth, known simply as K2. It towers over 28,000 feet and is a difficult climb even in the best of conditions, but the weather is never predictable. Sunny mornings without a breeze can suddenly transform into gusting wind and white out conditions leaving climbers disoriented and lost in 60 below temperatures. Avalanches drop from overhead without warning. The climb is so challenging, one in four who attempt the summit don’t make it back down.
