Publisher's summary

In her new thriller, America's #1 best-selling Queen of Suspense delves into a legal battle over the guilt or innocence of a man accused of murdering his wife. Woven into her plot is an eerie, little-understood but documented medical phenomenon - the emergence of a donor's traits and memories in the recipient of a heart transplant.

Natalie Raines, one of Broadway's brightest stars, accidentally discovers who killed her former roommate and sets in motion a series of shocking events that puts more than one life in extreme peril. While Natalie and her roommate, Jamie Evans, were both struggling young actresses, Jamie had been involved with a mysterious married man to whom she referred only by nickname. Natalie comes face to face with him years later and inadvertently addresses him by the nickname Jamie had used. A few days later, Natalie is found in her home in Closter, New Jersey, dying from a gunshot wound. Immediately the police suspect Natalie's theatrical agent and soon-to-be-ex-husband, Gregg Aldrich. He had long been a "person of interest" and was known to have stalked Natalie to find out if she was seeing another man. But no charges are brought against him until two years later, when Jimmy Easton, a career criminal, suddenly comes forward to claim that Aldrich had tried to hire him to kill his wife.

Easton knows details about the Aldrich home that only someone who had been there -- to plan a murder, for instance -- could possibly know. The case is a plum assignment for Emily Wallace, an attractive 32-year-old assistant prosecutor. As she spends increasingly long hours preparing for the trial, a seemingly well-meaning neighbor offers to take care of her dog in her absence. Unaware of his violent past, she gives him a key to her home....

Just Take My Heart

I love Mary Higgins Clark and she did not let me down with this book. I downloaded it on my i-pod for my mroning walks and I could have walked all day! It is a book you do NOT wish to put down.. The suspense keeps you wanting to go to go next chapter...The ending was remarkable and brought some sadness to hear it end! MOST enjoyable!

It's Okay

I haven't finished the story. I can't seemed to get through it, it's that boring. This is surprising to me as I normally truly love Mary Higgins Clark.

Heart Pounding Plot

The book quickly jumped right into the mystery. Once I started listening, I found it hard to tear myself away from this book. The narration could have been better. I found the voices often sounded too similar. The author did a great job of developing the characters. I did find myself getting emotionally invested in several of the characters. Overall, I very good book that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with lots of suspense.

Good twists

Very interesting twists and turns in the book. A lot of characters though so it does get a bit confusing at times but otherwise, a good listen. The narrator does a really good job.

Another Great Mystery

I saddened to learn that the actress who narrated this book had died this year, depriving her fans of hearing her many voices for future books by this author. I chose this book because I love hearing the way Jan Maxwell interpreted it. Mary Higgins Clark is my favorite mystery writer. I thought this was a new book by her, but the reference to renting a movie from a store had me checking the publication date. It didn't sound familiar until the last chapter, when I realized I had owned it as a hardbound book. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even the second time finishing it.
Mary Higgins Clark does a fantastic job of developing characters and her psychological profiles enrich her work. Like I mentioned before, Mary Higgins Clark is my favorite!

Enjoyed It - From Start to Finish

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I was skeptical as to whether listening to a book would be just a good as reading the book. I could not put my Ipod down. Never a dull moment and Jan Maxwell did a wonderful job as the narrator.
