Sixteen-year-old Princess Leia Organa faces the most challenging task of her life so far: proving herself in the areas of body, mind, and heart to be formally named heir to the throne of Alderaan. She's taking rigorous survival courses, practicing politics, and spearheading relief missions to worlds under Imperial control. But Leia has worries beyond her claim to the crown. Her parents, Breha and Bail, aren't acting like themselves lately; they are distant and preoccupied, seemingly more concerned with throwing dinner parties for their allies in the Senate than they are with their own daughter. Determined to uncover her parents' secrets, Leia starts down an increasingly dangerous path that puts her right under the watchful eye of the Empire. And when Leia discovers what her parents and their allies are planning behind closed doors, she finds herself facing what seems like an impossible choice: dedicate herself to the people of Alderaan--including the man she loves--or to the galaxy at large, which is in desperate need of a rebel hero... If you're a Star Wars fan, you must have considered the severe differences in the upbringing of Luke and Leia. Perhaps, like me, you thought Luke really did get the shaft. While I'm unsure whether or not my feelings on that matte have changed, I can say that Leia: Princess of Alderaan made me rethink my assumptions of growing up as a princess. This story is well written, and wonderfully narrated. Questions and concerns are answered, even if you never knew they existed. These mysteries may or may not make up for the lack of "action", though if you appreciate the confusing state of affairs which the Star Wars universe calls politics, you will surely love this!

Wonderful!

The backstory to Leia Organa is great, very fitting. How she was raised. Her parents personalities. How she is introduced to the Rebellion is truly not what I expected at all. Would love a story fitting to Bale Organa during, and after the clone wars and the hardships he had to endure.

Great book

What did you love best about Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi Leia, Princess of Alderaan?

I loved the entire novel.

What did you like best about this story?

I found it very interesting that an author would write Leia's back story.

Have you listened to any of Saskia Maarleveld’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other performances.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A rebel born.

Any additional comments?

I have gotten used to having others narrate star wars novels. Since you have novels that center around a female character, it is only fitting that you have a female narrator. I would only add that another male narrator should be present in these readings as well to narrate for male characters. If you can get past a star wars book narrated by another narrator, I would recommend this novel since it provides a lot of back ground information on a central character in this universe that George Lucas, in my opinion, masterfully created.

Leia becomes a rebel!
