São Paulo, décembre 2022 – En 2004, l’hôtelier Douglas Gonçalves, 34 ans, commence un parcours personnel après être surpris par une crise psychotique. Il revit ses transformations, remémore des événements et suit la trame de son destin, de son passé et de ses traumas pour aboutir à une discussion sur le traitement de sa maladie. Il s’agit d’une expérience engageante, dynamique et sans préjugés.
Le témoignage de l’auteur est une réflexion sur les causes de la crise pour tenter de démystifier le thème. Selon les statistiques médicales, une personne sur quatre aura, pendant sa vie, des problèmes de santé mentale. Ces problèmes ont un fort impact la vie personnelle, professionnelle et sociale.
Spiritualité et santé
Pour l’auteur, ce récit a pour objectif de servir comme un alerte à ceux qui sont susceptibles de vivre une crise et d’aider la famille à identifier rapidement les épisodes. Il peut aussi aider les médecins à adopter une approche de soins centrée sur le patient : il s’agit d’une diffusion associative entre spiritualité et santé, liée à l’importance de la spiritualité dans les soins des maladies mentales.
Ancestralité et affect
Écrit dans la forme d’un journal, avec un style simple, direct et, parfois, humoristique, l’œuvre aborde des moments difficiles, comme l’expérience dramatique à New York lors des attaques de 11 septembre 2001, qui, associée à des problèmes de couple, des conflits dans la famille et des questions professionnels, a déclenché la crise. L’auteur réfléchit aussi sur les événements liés au moment postpandémique que nous vivons.
L’auteur affirme que « dans des situations critiques, quand nous dépassons systématiquement les limites de notre corps, nous sommes, de manière inconsciente, comme si nous étions naturellement ‘débranchés’ par notre instinct de conservation ». Il ajoute : « Le chemin est individuel mais enrichissant : j’ai suivi mon traitement avec des antipsychotiques, de la connaissance de soi, des analyses des événements passés, des antidépresseurs, du régime alimentaire, de la lecture et beaucoup de temps. J’ai pu comprendre les déclencheurs de ma maladie et j’ai appris à être attentif pour que cela ne recommence pas. La recherche de la compréhension des causes psychologiques profondes, le changement d’habitude, la rééducation spirituelle et l’acceptation que ces choses ne sont pas dues au hasard ont été des aspects fondamentaux pour rétablir l’équilibre des corps biologique, psychologique et énergétique ».
