Publisher's summary

All he did was apply for a job, and then his world was turned upside down.

Thrust into the world he had no idea about, Jordan Sutton’s only goal was to get a job working for Duncan Pryde of Pryde Industries. He thought werewolves, vampires, and faes belonged in fairy tales, not in the real world. What will he do when he finds out there’s more than meets the eye to his boss and his family?

Duncan Pryde had too much going on in his life. He became the sole guardian of his twin niece and nephew along with the addition of his pack and company. He had no time to think about a mate when trouble came to his front door. What happens when the man he hired for one job turns out to be his destined mate? Does he deny what he feels or embrace it?

Really good shifter story, very good narration.

I really enjoyed the story when I read it, although there had been a few editing issues. The storyline includes a hidden society of shifters, a young man (Jordan) who applies to become a PA to Duncan Pryde, a successful CEO, precocious kids and enemies to fend off. Throw in trying to explain fated mates to someone who has no idea that shifters exist and that said male mate can become pregnant, well it made an interesting read.
Sean Crisden is definitely a seasoned performer. He made this book so easy to listen to. He knows how to infuse each character with their own personality so that one always knows which character is talking. I loved listening to the narration and would love to listen to the next book, especially if he narrates :)

Great beginning to this series

Jordan Sutton is more than meets the eye, as is his new boss Duncan Pryde. Neither of them knows what Jordan is until more than halfway through the story, and Jordan doesn't know what Duncan is till then, either. His job application brings him to Duncan's home and lands him the job he ISN'T after, introducing him to Duncan's niece and nephew and beginning the process of blending him into the family. They are irresistibly drawn to each other, and once Duncan reveals his other nature, Jordan must take increasingly large leaps of faith as he discovers a world he had thought only existed in fairy tales. To discover that he is also part of that world tilts his perceptions of reality completely and his emotional stability is compromised for a while, resulting in arguments with Duncan, who must come to terms with the fact that his fated mate is male when all his life he has been with women. Neither man has been in a relationship based on anything other than lust, but knowing they're fated and learning about each other helps them fall in love as well. Sean Crisden performs the parts well and renders the emotions admirably.

Torn review

I’ve actually never ventured into the kind of story before, so bare with me. Overall I’m super interested in the world build that could take place here. The narrator did an amazing job....why I say I’m torn is there just wasn’t enough to fill in the gaps in the characters. I wish the author would have maybe wrote double the pages they did to give us more depth to Duncan in particular. The story seemed rushed, and I actually loved the over all arc. A lot and I mean a lot of potential with these characters and world . I will read the next one and hope the author continues to build upon it.

Voice lives up to the story!

This is my favorite series from Reaves. It has everything I want and need. I love, love, love it! I was worried the voice actor wouldn't be able to match my love for the story but he did a phenomenal job! He captured all the characters beautifully and the story with the intensity it deserves. I was sincerely impressed. I cannot wait for him to tackle Ryland's Inferno!!

Need more M/M books like this.

Narrators voices are great and consistent. Love when there two main leads and one isn't shoehorned into being the weak one needing protection.

Jordans Pryde loved it

I absolutely love this book I am blind. I love to this into audiobooks. The only thing is is that I cannot find a copy of the second book in the series on here or on any other. It would be nice to find out what happens.

Good shifter story

This book is right up my alley: fated mates, shifters of different varieties, an assortment of other magical creatures, and plenty of action (double entendre intended) . I did enjoy bumbling along with Jordan as he was introduced to the new world he was thrust into, but I didn't love that other people were slow to tell him stuff (oh, it's too painful, I don't want to talk about it! ). But otherwise, very enjoyable.
The narrator is great. He has a great voice, and I loved the growl he was able to put into his voice. And he did a good job of differentiating voices and acting out what the characters were saying. My one little complaint is that, aside from what the characters said, he read everything so matter-of-factly, even the sex scenes. It was weird to have those read as if they were a boring textbook.
