Joke’s on You

I love these two characters. They don’t try to hide away from the attraction towards each other and see where things go… which is to the happy ending. Such a fun listen with som great narration.

Super Cute!

I really enjoyed this story of a quiet piano player finding love in the most unexpected place!

These two were a match made in heaven as the saying goes. She is a big fan of his music but doesn’t necessarily connect the dots on who he is and falls for him hard first.

Very sweet with some major steam thrown in the middle.

This is narrated by Connor Crais who is already a favorite of mine.

And Stella Hunter who I am very aware of but this is my first time listening to her in a recording (I’ve listened to her record live which was fun!)

She is definitely going on my favorites list

Swooning rock star romance!

What can I say? I’m a huge fangirl of the Starfish series, and the author did not disappoint when it came to writing Oliver’s happily ever after. “Joke’s on You” was everything I expected and MORE. The chemistry between Oliver and Rowan was hot… and the sexy, flirty and witty banter between the two made it sizzling! I couldn’t get enough of these two together! And while I knew where Oliver goes the fun and jokes follow, I was pleasantly surprised to learn about his upbringing and how smart, talented and sensitive he is which framed a whole new side of him that just tugged at my heartstrings. Swoon! Rowan was the perfect match for him… strong, witty and talented in her own right, and I loved that her stubbornness did not make it easy for Oliver to sweep in and save the day. Connor Crais and Stella Hunter’s performance was perfection! Both new-to-me narrators, they totally hit it out of the park as they captured all the funny, witty and endearing moments, adding another level of enjoyment to this entertaining romantic comedy.

Love is no joke

I love this series and this short book for Oliver and Rowan is perfect. I love the jokester in Oliver but also the caring sensitive side. Rowan is stronger than she thinks and with Oliver's help she fights for what's right.

This entire series is great.

Stella Hunter and Connor Crais are great to listen to. They brought out the best of Rowan and Oliver and I loved listening to them.

Great book, great series and I highly recommend it.

This is a great series! Lisa Becker is awesome!

I really love the Starfish series! It's so good - everything I have read by Lisa Becker is! this one is no different. Oliver and Rowan's relationship is very cute. The only problem is that this story is too short! I wish it could have been longer. Only 3.5 hours... There could be so much more added into the story, but it was nicely wrapped up in the time.

Lisa needs to write another book in this series where Kings Quarters reunites and does another tour, just to bring them all back together and have the love stories of all of the band members go further - they're all in these great relationships now, so tell us how they are all doing! That would be fantastic!

Fun, sweet and sexy!

As a prankster myself, I love Oliver. He’s so much fun. Oliver has fun while living the crazy life he lives. This is the 3rd book and I can’t get enough of the King’s Quarters band. A one night stand turns into forever with a struggling jewelry designer. Rowen is fun and smart. With the support of Oliver, she stands up for herself at her job and shines. These two are magnificent.

The balance of sweet, sexy and realistic always has me coming back for more of Lisa Becker’s books.

Connor Crais and Stella Hunter are perfection per the norm. They are easily in the top 5 of my favourite narrators.

Sexy and fun!💜

I really enjoyed this story. I never imagined playing the piano could be so hot. Strong & sexy characters with chemistry that was on fire. Well written and very entertaining. The narration was absolutely perfect. I loved everything about this book. This is a novella book 3 in the Starfish series but can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend this book/series!

Phenomenal Writing & Narration!!

Joke's On You by Lisa Becker, narrated by Stella Hunter and Connor Crais is Book 3 in the Starfish series. Let me tell you...if you haven't given this series a try yet, you are missing out!! All three audiobooks are so good! Author Lisa Becker is the master of romantic comedies; her writing flows so seamlessly that I feel like I'm watching a movie, rather than listening to an audiobook. She has a way of making me feel like I'm right there watching the events unfold, alongside each of the characters (who - btw - feel like BFFs I've known my entire life!!). In addition to the well-written storyline and tasteful sexy scenes, the dialogue is realistic and filled with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Describe my overall reading/listening experience in three words: Engaging, Entertaining, and Enjoyable!

The narration performances by Stella Hunter and Connor Crais made listening that much more enjoyable, as they both brought an authentic feel to each of the scenes. I love that the story was told in alternating points-of-view because it allowed me to not only make connections with each of the characters, but it also helped me gain a deeper understanding of where the characters were coming from in terms of their thoughts and actions. Do I prefer listening to audiobooks that have one narrator or multiple? After this performance, I definitely prefer multiple! These two were a great team!

Hands down, the audiobook Joke's On You by Lisa Becker, narrated by Stella Hunter and Connor Crais deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars across the board! Even though it's Book 3 in the Starfish series, it can be read as a standalone. However, if you've made it this far in my review, we both know you are going to love the whole series, so instead of listening to it backwards, my recommendation is that you start from the beginning with Book 1. You are going to love it...I pinky promise! :-)

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening!

Fun, Sweet and Steamy Romance!

This is an irresistibly sweet and funny rom-com. Rowan and Oliver meet one night and have an incredible night of passion, never expecting to see each other again. But they really enjoyed each other and connected in a way they didn't see coming. Rowan is a professional photographer but her passion is to make jewelry. She has a boss who is a real creep but needs this job until she gets her jewelry business off the ground. Oliver is a famous Rockstar and he likes that Rowan doesn't know who he is. He likes how smart and funny she is and that she likes him for who he is. He wants to help her but she wants to be successful on her own. Will they be able to make it work when she discovers who he is and when they are both so stubborn? There is so much to love about this story, from the quick wit and banter, to the lovable quirky characters, to the sizzling passion, and every hilarious, heartwarming, awkward moment in between that will leave you smiling for days.
Connor Crais and Stella Hunter did a great job narrating this hilarious romcom and bringing it to life. Their comedic timing and inflections were spot on as they delivered Becker's witty banter flawlessly. I really enjoyed both their performances and thought they made this hilarious, heartfelt, and sweet & steamy romance even better!

Stands alone but better in series

This is technically a stand alone story, however I'm sure I enjoyed it more after listening to Starfish where Oliver and his pranks are first introduced. (Disclaimer: Starfish is one of my all-time favorite audiobooks.) Joke's On You shows that there's so much more to Oliver than my first impression.

Stella Hunter and Connor Crais did an excellent job with the narration and I highly recommend listening to the Starfish series.

Light and fun but still has the steam!

I love this series and this book didn't disappoint. It's a nice change of pace to have a Rockstar romance without the heavy angst. Oliver's story was just as good as the others and I hope there are more to come. Connor and Stella did a great job as always!

Love, love, love 💘

Oliver and Rowan are just a complete delight. Both kind, sensitive, funny and talented, their love story has made my day distinctly brighter. Lisa Becker writes romantic comedies starring characters to fall in love with and this is no exception. The narrating skills of Stella Hunter and Connor Crais work to enhance an already lovely tale, bringing so much humour and warmth to the story. Their voices are melodic, warm, rich in expression and I felt I could hear their smiles. A delight from start to finish and definitely act as a wonderful finale to the Starfish series 💖💖💖💖💖

The emotions were there

This author writes the most delicious romcoms. The characters are swoon worthy, the stories are just sexy enough, and there’s always a more serious element.

Here she writes about sexual harrasment in the workplace. The struggles, the acceptance, the coping mechanisms–Rowan experiences all of that, and through all, gets the support of her best friend, and later Oliver. I loved how this touchy subject was treated.

But we’re here for the romance, and the author delivers. It was a bit too short, so a lot of the growing relationship was skipped, but there’s an instant connection between Rowan and Oliver, and it wasn’t hard to see that it could become more than just the one night stand they promised to each other. They were both cute and hot together.

As for the narration, it was quite good! The male narrator’s voice is growing on me, and I already enjoy the female narrator’s work. They may have lacked a bit of the energy necessary for the comedic aspect, but the emotions were there.

Amazing Story & Listen🎧 An Enthralling Delight!

I am a huge fan of Rock Stars and Rock Star Romance novels and Lisa Becker’s Starfish series is one of my favorites. Ms. Becker is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, I loved the characters and storylines she created they are original and unique, nope they are not your typical angsty rockstars they are so much more. In the first book we are taken on tour with “Kings Quarters” and meet Jase, Johnny, Oliver, Craig and Brad. Oliver Eastland was the prankster of the bunch and one of my favorite characters. And I am so happy that he got his own book, it is great to see him again and to learn more of who he is and where life has taken him. If you have not started this series I highly recommend that you do and now is the perfect time because it is offered in a box set. Oliver is doing well for himself these days, each member went their own way after Kings Quarters split up. Oliver a musical prodigy still makes music and plays, he always liked to stay in the background so instead of joining a band he just tours with them. One night he decides to go out with the band after a photo shoot. It is a gay club and he was not expecting to meet any one but he does, he meets and hooks up with Rowan Edwards. Rowan Edwards works as an assistant photo editor, it is not what she wants to do but it pays her bills. Her dream job is something she does on the side, she designs her own jewelry and one day it will pay her bills. She is good at her photography gob but has a boss who is inappropriate, she deals with him for now but she is smart about how she handles him. After a bad day at work she and her roommate and best friend Rolando go out for drinks at Haven, a hot gay club. Rowan does not normally do one night stands but she and Oliver hit is off, there was something about him that drew her to him. They had one hot night together but she left in the morning without a word. Oliver knew he had to see her again and did just that. This may be a novella sized book but it sure does pack a whole lot of story, I loved the witty dialogue and how everything plays out. The story is cleverly plotted with drama, a touch of angst, humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Lisa Becker thank you for another awesome story!

🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous narration, Stella Hunter and Connor Crais are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They do an awesome job portraying these characters, humanizing them as they bring them and their story to life. I love how they take each role and make it their own while sounding natural and believable in that role. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They set the perfect tone for the story, handle the witty dialogue with ease and land the humor flawlessly. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Love it!

I am not sure how Lisa Becker does it, but his novella has stolen my heart in 2 hours! Oliver is the piano player for a popular rock band. Rowan is a photographer looking for a night of fun. Not one for one night stands, she can't resist the charms of Oliver, but before we awakes, she is gone leaving him a note. Does this deter him? No, and his persistence is worth it. A romance where love for the person is forefront, relevant work situations brought to light and music make this a great listen! I loved it!

Connor Crais and Stella Hunter are such fantastic story tellers, and they fell into character with ease. Crais has an easy warmth that came through in Oliver. I enjoyed hi romancing Rowan. Rowan is strong in some scenes and frightened in others and Hunter brings all the different feelings out. I enjoy his team whenever they perform together and this casting was spot on.
