Publisher's summary

There was nothing that could have prepared me for Dragon’s Ground. And I thought that nothing could be worse than what I faced there.

Just my black cat bad luck, the world is set to prove me wrong.

South lies the Jinn’s Dominion, and within it the members of my Pride who need my help. The further south we go, the more danger comes not only from outside our group but from within.

Ishtar’s new hunters.

Marsum, leader of the Jinn.

And the emperor himself.

All three want something from me. All three claim they can give me the world on a silver platter, to give me my deepest desires.

Color me cautious, but I think all three are lying. Or so it seems until I reach the Jinn’s Dominion and discover the truth....

About who I really am.

And what that means for my fate and the fate of those I love.

Quite a ride!

Fantastic edition to the series! Sam and pals take on the Jinn to rescue friends and along the way have quite an adventure! This book has it all from humor, to sadness, to fighting, to achievement, and a few surprises along the way. Looking forward to the next book! The narrator did a fantastic job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene.

Amusing, but also a bit odd

Immediately I had a feeling of cold in the pit of my stomach at listening to the start of this book. The warnings of deceit around every corner starts early in this one. Then not even halfway through there are some bizarre descriptions and references that are amusing, but also a bit odd. I must admit I’m finding this one harder to continue listening to at around 3 or 4 hours in. There are enough curiosities and unanswered questions to make you want to not stop yet and it improves by the end enough to get your heart racing again. The middle is just a little more tough.

Half way through this series, and I am already 😢

I know I will certainly miss all the various world's I'm visiting here. This was as good as the first two. Exciting and fun, but sad to. But that is life in every world I guess.
Thanks on my way to the Oracle next! Kaye

Rollercoaster of Emotions

I don't think I can actually describe all the emotions that I experienced listening to this book.

Anger, heartbreak, love, pride.

There's so much more depth revealed in this book that hadn't been in the first two. I definitely want to follow and see how Zam's story develops.

Lauren is still in my top narrator list.

As I listen to (or read) more and more books, I have decided that I don't have to finish all the series that I start. But, what makes a book series something worth finishing?

Well, first, one has to care about the characters. The author has to have given the reader a reason to want to keep up with the characters. It doesn't matter if it's because they love the characters and want them to succeed, or if they can't stand the character(s) and want them to fail. But there has to be an emotional attachment.

Check. I Love Zam and Lila

The world has to be engaging, and believable. I mean, if you read fantasy, you already have to suspend reality. But that doesn't mean that what is presented is believable. For every fantasy world an author creates, the magic, or creatures, or beings that exist within that world have to be believable.

Check. There are fantastical creatures in this world. There's magic that exists. And it's believable in the realm of this fantasy. And the heroine isn't an all-powerful being that already knows all her powers. In some respects, she's learning things along with the reader.

And there's enough mystery and suspense that does make me want to keep reading/listening to this series. And still there's enough closure for the book to not be annoying with a cliffhanger.

I recommend this series to anyone that likes mystery, adventure, some action, and a hint of romance. And doesn't need it to be in an urban setting, a fae realm, or the underworld. ;)

In full disclosure, I received a free copy of the audiobook for an honest review.

Another must read!

This series has gotten better with each book. The Shakespearean quotes are some of the best parts of the book and I love that Zam, Maks, and Lila all contribute! Lila is still an absolute favorite of mine, I just wish in audible she wasn’t quite so squeaky...she’s a freaking dragon not a mouse, And size does not matter!!! Maks being the leader of Jinn has completely thrown me but if there’s anything I know about Shannon it’s that there will be a huge twist and a great reveal along the way no can’t wait for that. Love conquers ALL
