Must have resource for Judaism

This is one of the greatest historical resources I seen on Judaism. It read just like a great novel with happiness sadness anger and love, and it is all true. My Love for Judaism is stronger and better informed than ever.

I Came to this Knowing Nothing!

I came to this audio book knowing I knew almost nothing about Judaism and was blown away. Absolutely thorough and well researched. Having listened to an audiobook about the Middle East right before this one I felt it was a little biased but it didn't get in the way of me learning more than I could have imagined! This answered countless questions I had such as why people hate the Jews, why Israel and the Middle East are always fighting, why they fast, why they're kosher, certain terminology I mean this guy covers everything. Jewish or non-Jewish you will learn something with this book and the narrator keeps the story alive, not a boring minute in the nearly 30 hours of material (After the bible chapters I suppose since most people will know that stuff)

Not even a month after finishing it I already was able to show off what I learned to friends and family! Though I may need to do another listen before I have some of those Hebrew words down but I would totally listen to this multiple times.

My only critique was that I almost wish the chapters were reversed, it starts with discussing the bible and then works its way up through history then focuses on aspects of Jewish life, beliefs, practices etc. A lot of the history was hard to understand until I got to the end when he actually explained the various laws and practices and why they believe them and why they died for them.

So worth the time.

I own the hard copy but found I couldn't fine time to sit and digest. The audio book helped me complete it while driving back and forth to work. The performance is fantastic. and the book is a must read for Jews, and anyone who truly want to understand Judaism.

From a grateful reader

Dear Rabbi,
I am so grateful for your magnificent work. My parents, both German Jews, and were congregants of Rabbi Arthur Hertzberg. Although I loved his thought-provoking sermons, I love your book as much or more.

Every Jew Should Know What's In This Book

One doesn't have to be Jewish to appreciate what is basically a timeline history of the Jewish people, however since many Jews don't know much about Judaism, Jewish life, practices, history, & everything else they've experienced around the world-the book becomes a "must listen" publication.
Rabbi Telushkin's books are all works of art & this one is no exception.
I treasure owning & learning from it.
Thank u Joseph.

A true blessing

A blessing for those of us who have grown outside the Jewish community and don’t know where to start learning.

One of the best books I have ever read about the history of the Jews

I have always been interested in the history of the Jews. Have read many books regarding the subject. This book puts it all in a concise manner. The footnotes are important for future references. It will be a book I will return to time and again. Plan to read more by this author. The narrator is excellent.

Keeps saying "refer to previous entry"

Keeps saying "refer to the previous entry". I mean, IT IS CONSTANT and very distracting. He makes a point and states a fact, then he makes another point that relates to what he just said...and then reminds us of what he just said 10 seconds ago. It is normal conversation to go logically go from one point to the next. He doesn't have to stop everything and tell us that what he's talking about refers to something he just talked about. I really want to listen, but this is extremely irritating.
