Publisher's Summary

Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale defend the absolute claims of Christ against modern belief in the "secular gods" of atheism, scientism, relativism, and more.

The rise of these secular gods presents the most serious challenge to the absolute claims of Christ since the founding of Christianity itself. The Christian worldview has not only been devalued and dismissed by modern culture, but its believers are openly ridiculed as irrelevant. In Jesus Among Secular Gods, Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale challenge the popular "isms" of the day, skillfully pointing out the fallacies in their claims and presenting compelling evidence for revealed absolute truth as found in Jesus. This book is fresh, insightful, and important, and faces head on today's most urgent challenges to Christian faith. It will help seekers to explore the claims of Christ and will provide Christians with the knowledge to articulate why they believe that Jesus stands tall above all other gods.

Terrific Book that illumines the Love of God .

This book reveals the greatness of God's love and the distinct difference of the Christian belief. Is truth dead? No not at all. He is risen and most assuredly alive.

Affirming the truth

I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially if you are a "thinker". It thoroughly uncovers many of the reasons for and against God, relating the arguments to past and present contradicting and affirming arguments. it exposed me to new ways of viewing truth, and thus valuing it. It is a heavy read if you are unfamiliar with philosophical language, popular worldviews, and argumentative writing style; but we'll worth it.

Impactful-presented in a scholarly way

I really enjoyed the book. At times it makes it a little difficult to stay focused because it is presented as educational arguments for the faith. They are clearly presented and I enjoyed listening to their positions. It's great to memorize some points and share what we learned with others who are questioning.

Not Quite What I Expected

Most of this book I have heard before, but what was I to expect? There are only so many ways to tell the same truth. The arguments for and against Christianity are all the same. There is nothing new there, and I suppose there never will be. The atheist will always claim there is no God and base his argument on improper science, while the Christian will show the science as improper but more so how the lack of God would leave the world in chaos. For my part there is no question, the only God that has ever brought happiness and peace in any lasting sense is the Christian God. Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale did put some of their personal stories into the book, but I guess I was expecting more. The book did address some of the counter cultural topics and while I was expecting an epic battle between cultures, I found that the only differences seem to lie in the narcissistic view that athieism brings as compared to the service centered view that Christianity brings. The ironic part is that while the differences between the atheistic and Christian cultures are so minor, the world's they create are as different as Robert E. Howard's Hyboria and C.S. Lewis' Narnia. Both are filled with wonder and magic, but only one has hope and peace through even the darkest of times. A perfect example of an atheistic world and a Christian World. Only through Christ Jesus can peace truly last, and when you accept it, even in the coldest winters you will have peace.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, yet we did not know Him

This book presents a very convincing argument that the only truth is God and makes a very strong argument that the only way to really know and love the truth is to know and love God and Jesus, His son.

If you are looking to know and grasp the truth that lies beyond the truth that can be scientifically determined from observing and measuring the physical world and universe, this is the book for you. If you already believe that the god of the Bible exists and that He is the only truth, this book will strengthen that conviction. If, however, you believe that there is no God or that God does not love His creation, this book is likely to convince you otherwise.

Warning: The material in this book has the potential to completely change how you view truth, the world, and your relationship to the world and to its creator.

The authors skilfully illustrate the limitations of common 'isms' and carefully demonstrate the relevance of Christ in finding meaning and fulfilment in life. Eloquently read.

Excellent read

This is a really good overview to predominant -isms and world views and how Christianity, in the person of Jesus, stands out from these. Ravi and Vince provide compelling and persuasive arguments that promote healthy dialogue and discourse in this subject area. Highly recommended.

Challenging

Whilst I hold a little bias towards what is written in this book because of what coming to know Jesus has dine in my life, this book has challenged me to look, think, and explore things even deeper. Was a great listen as my first audio book and look forward to listening again and again.
