Publisher's summary

Make a list, she said. It'll be easy, she said.

Deputy Jesse Maddox's reputation in Beach Pointe is...less than stellar. He thought following in the footsteps of his late father, a former cop, would make up for it. Not quite. Every time he closes his eyes, his past is there to haunt him.

After falling asleep on the job (again), the sheriff gives him an ultimatum. Get counseling for whatever's keeping him awake at night or get out. Jesse would rather have a root canal, but he goes anyway, expecting a big waste of time. What he doesn't expect is to fall in love.

Leigh Meriwether is so close to earning her counselor's license, she can taste it. But when Deputy Maddox walks in, she second guesses her career choice. The horror stories she's heard from her clients about him are enough to make anyone cringe. Despite her reservations, she gives him a game plan: make a list of people he's hurt, apologize, and make amends. Simple enough.

What's not so simple? Uncovering the real man hidden within. What's worse? Falling for her own client.

Cute sweet little romance...

This audiobook was a sweet romance about a police Officer in a small town who is having trouble sleeping, so his boss makes him see a psychologist. The heroine is finishing up her training before taking her final tests to be a psychologist and getting her own practice. She has a lot of clients in this small town where everyone knows everyone else. The hero used to be the town bad boy before he became a police officer and he has a lot of people he owes apologies to for how he treated them when he was a teenager, so when she suggests that he make amends as part of his therapy he starts doing so. Meanwhile, she’s falling for her patient. There are funny moments and poignant moments in this story. Only one sex scene and it’s a mild one. Narration was good, but I’d have preferred a male narrator as well as female. Overall a sweet story with a nice ending!

I LOVE THIS AUDIBLE!

Amazing story. Full of feelings from bad to good to amazingly beautiful. When I listened to the love scene it had me breathless then in a heartbeat I was laughing only to have it leave me in tears from the tenderness and love you could, for those who have true love., relate to on a personal level. I've never had a book make me feel lucky to be alive and loved. Thank you for that.

The narrator is excellent with a soft sexy voice that brings emotions into the story bringing it to life.

I received a copy of this audible free at my request and I am thrilled to give my honest unbiased review.

bad boy goes good

An interesting story of a bad boy turned good. It starts out slow, but it picks up soon after and revealing the story behind the bad boy turned good and his recovery from insomnia. Who knew that doing the good deeds for those he wronged in his youth will help him ease his conscience? As he finds out, and all of them forgive him, some sooner, some took some convincing, it does the trick and gets the girl too in the end. They both get their HEA and their journey has some heartache, some suspense and a few hilarious moments. Love his grandfather's character, he is hilarious.

My first listen from Ms. Winkel and I enjoyed listening to her voicing the various characters, the hint of southern gave authenticity of the small town which I appreciated. Will be looking for more.

Love and Redemption

The Beach Pointe series is a really fun listen from beginning to end. Two broken people that together bring healing to each other seems to be the theme of the Beache Pointe series and this is a special story. I had already listened to Book 2 - Avery and Jacks's story - and I like this one almost as much. Laurie Catherine Winkel is almost as perfect a narrator as Meghan Kelly ,,,,,,,,,

Lets's just hope people who come for counselling do not expect to be kissed after listening to this story - it is generally 2 years after completing therapy before that can happen without losing your license ha ha ha

Turning Over a New Leaf

Fabulous!

Following in the footsteps of "Mann Cakes" is this delectable, intriguing, and heartwarming story of love, loss, pain and redemption. You will laugh, you will cry and you will enjoy.

And I still stand by my original review above, but now, having enjoyed the AUDIO version (delightfully narrated by Laurie Catherine Winkel), I am more enchanted than ever with a character whom I initially despised, and by a tale well told.

First of all, this is a standalone romance and anything you need to know about the characters is contained within this book, the second in the series. However (secondly), we first met Jesse in Book One, and overall he is not even a frog but a toad. And in *this* tale we learn just how horrid he has been--and why. And what he finally does about it.

Oh, wait, did I hear a "ribbet"? No, that was a "Read Me"!

Beach Pointe is the place to be!

I love Beach Pointe! This is a town that I want to visit! Mysti Parker lets us get to know Jessie, the Deputy who has some issues. His past keeps coming back to haunt him and is making it so he cannot sleep. Sent to get some help, he goes to Leigh, a soon to be licensed therapist. She gives him some advice to meet his past head on, speak to those he has hurt and do them a good deed. But is this the problem? And what will she do about their growing attraction? This is a wonderful love story of redemption. There is a little suspense, a lot of wonderful people to meet, we get to see our friends from Mann Cakes and just enjoy a wonderfully written, heart warming romance. It's quirkiness and humor shines through and gives us all the wonderful feels!

Narrated by Laurie Catherine Winkel, the story flows with a well performed cast. I enjoyed her pace and her voices for the characters. She gave a great feeling of growing emotions and suspense. I t was an enjoyable telling.

The reformed bad boy

Jesse is a deputy sheriff in a small KY town...he's having trouble sleeping and, after one too many incidents, is sent to mandatory counseling. Leigh is 'this close' to acquiring the required amount of hours before she can earn her counselor's license...and not have to put up with her sleazy boss. During Jesse's first visit, he confesses that he was somewhat of a he!!raiser during his teens...and most of the small town were his victims...this is part of the reason he can't sleep. Unbeknownst to him, most of those ppl are also Leigh's patients, trying to recover from Jesse's teen pranks. One in particular was so funny that I was LOL during my commute and attracting strange looks from fellow drivers...it involves the pastor's wife, her chickens and church bbq...trust me, you need to read this!!! Leigh tasks Jesse with apologizing to the wronged ppl...should be simple enough, right? Heheheh...not so much. Over time, Jesse and Leigh get close, while not quite crossing that patient/counselor line. There was trauma in both of their lives as young children and as such, trusting others is quite difficult. There is also some drama with Leigh's boss, a creepy patient, and the sheriff's wife. Oh, and eventually an HEA. Great book that did not disappoint; and the narration was awesome.

Bad Cop Ordered to Therapy to Keep His Job

Jesse Maddox' upbringing and behavior left a lot to be desired. He matured a lot but was riding the line of 'not caring' when his boss told him to seek counseling or the Sheriff would be looking for a new deputy.

Reluctantly he went to see Leigh Meriwether, an intern finishing up her last days to becoming a licensed counselor. Her solution to making Jesse care about himself and others? He must make a list of 10 people that he had hurt in the past and try to help them by apologizing and making amends.

As he meets with Leigh and tells her of his progress, the walls of professionalism start to crumble a bit for both of them. A cop who is only doing what he must to keep his job and a counselor who CANNOT be more than a sympathetic encourager… What will happen as the appointments play out?

A great story with an ending that was a bit cheesy for my taste (but I'm not the sentimental type) A solid 4 stars.

Laurie Catherine Winkle's performance was a bit slow but I sped it up a bit and she is very good. Winkle has a pretty strong southern accent. Her narration receives an above average 3.75 stars
