Acerca de esta escucha
A 1930s rural teacher uses a mysterious boy prodigy to change her life forever, while the young genius's dark path threatens to destroy everything.
Rural Oregon: 1936. Jane Alexander sits on her porch listening to Walter Winchell's Live at the Stork Club in New York City, then retires to bed alone with a pulp romance, dreaming of being a famous writer but knowing she lacks some elusive gift to make it a reality. That is, until 15-year-old Tobias Randall shows up at her one-room schoolhouse and reveals his otherworldly capability of crafting amazing stories.
Tobias and Jane make a pact to use each other to publish bestselling novels under Jane's name. Jane will gain fame, and Tobias will use the money to escape a fate working on his father's farm. To assist, Jane brings in six other middle-aged single women like herself (also completely without prospects). But as their books soar to the top of the bestseller lists, Miss Alexander's selfish ambition collides with the unmistakable signs of Tobias's dark nature.
Tobias disappears after one of the ladies is murdered, only to reemerge in the coming years as an ominous player in little-known but real historical events which have created our modern world today. Each time Tobias reveals himself he toys dangerously with Jane and the other ladies, who must stop him to protect the literary empire they've built and their very lives.
Jane and the Boy Wonder is Fried Green Tomatoes meets an evil Forrest Gump. Fans of the voice, tone, and humor of The Maid, by Nita Prose, and Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club books will relish this story.

Unique Story
This book is written in a somewhat emotionally detached, non-fiction biography style.
At first, I found it difficult to relate to and feel invested in the characters, but by the end I was fully engaged.
Additionally, the book contained many historical facts that I was unaware of, making it informative as well. The story line had a quite a few plot twists and will suprise even the most astute.
