Narration hard to tolerate

Always loved this story. Think I would have preferred if it were narrated by various persons posting the different characters. But I still loved it!

The narrator is so bad that you will want to cut your ears off

I bought this version because it was the first one I saw, but I urge anyone considering this audiobook to buy an alternate version. I’m sure the Thandie Newton narration is infinitely better. This narrator is obviously American and she narrates with this bizarre, extraordinarily annoying affectation that completely ruins the story.

Good

Good story. The reader had a pleasant voice. It was easy to listen to. I listened on my way home from Florida to Ohio. It kept me alert the entire way.

Engaging and Exciting

I absolutely loved this! It has enough romance to peak interest, but it has another subplot that makes it a page turner (suburban white mom phrase, I know😂).

Worth the price of $0.66

The quality of this audio book wasn’t as good as the ones on here made by audible but it was definitely worth it for the price and the narrator did a wonderful job. Would highly recommend.

No to this narrator

I could not hack this narrator's fake British accent and only made it through the first few minutes of this book, which is actually one of my favorites. Looking for another edition of Jane Eyre!

A classic well read.

This is a story worth reading again and again.
The characters are realistic and stay in my mind. But for me, the best thing about this story is the way it goes between good times and bad times over and over. This is the way my life has been, so the story resonates with me.
I would not recommend this book for young children. It is too long and has more sorrow than little ones should need to endure. I would recommend it for adults and teens. I would include this book among those which have contributed to our literary heritage, so reading it could contribute to your understanding of our society.
The narration is well done. The reader does have a bit of an accent, so at the beginning of the book I found myself wondering who Rita was and why I didn’t remember her. It was, of course, reader. I soon got used to the accent, and found it very pleasant to hear. It

Unexpected delight

I started this audio book with a feeling that “ I should read this” because it’s so famous but little did I know it would sweep me up and not let me work or play until I heard the whole thing.
Claire Walsh is magnificent.. she brings every character to life.

Odd, distracting narration

Was the narrator british? Or American? In the end I decided it was an American, going for a fake British accent. Very distracting. Which is a shame as this is fantastic book which I’ve read many times. Not sure what I expected for 78p!

So Masterful

What a brilliant novel she masters the English language like few others and none better
