THE REMARKABLE TRUE STORY BEHIND THE BBC'S MISS AUSTEN: PERFECT FOR ANY JANE AUSTEN LOVER

-------------

Where better to celebrate the 250th birthday of one of Britain's most beloved novelists than the very rooms from which she quietly changed the world?

In this bestselling biography, Lucy Worsley travels from room to room, house to house, showing us how and why Jane Austen lived as she did, examining the places and spaces that mattered to her. It wasn't all country houses and ballrooms, but a life that was often a painful struggle. Jane famously lived a 'life without incident', but with new research and insights Lucy Worsley reveals a passionate woman who fought for her freedom. A woman who far from being a lonely spinster in fact had at least five marriage prospects, but who in the end refused to settle for anything less than Mr Darcy.

Featuring a guided tour of all the best Jane Austen sites to visit specially written for this birthday edition, this gorgeous book is perfect for Austen fans everywhere.

I love Lucy Worsley’s works! Almost as much as I love Jane Austen’s. I listened to this audiobook around the time that I myself took an Austen pilgrimage to England, & it was very engaging & immersive, full of lesser known aspects of Jane Austen’s life. I don’t normally have the attention span for nonfiction, but I savored this one. Lucy Worsley’s voice is very endearing, which only adds to this title!

I've always known Jane Austen died far too young, her works appreciated far too little during her lifetime. But after listening to this book, my love and respect for the incomparable author has deepened. Her story infuriated me on occasion (looking at you, James Austen), moved me to tears several times, but also inspired me, made me laugh, and filled me with hope. Thank you, Lucy Worsley, for this brilliant insight into her life.

Not me over here sobbing over a woman dead for more than 200 years...
