In August 2004, then-governor of New Jersey, Jim McGreevey, announced to the press that he is gay. A successful politician, a twice-married father of two, his political career, at least temporarily, was over. But his celebrity was just beginning. Many public appearances - including a turn on The Oprah Winfrey Show - and one book later, McGreevey is still very much in the public life.
This interview for the 92nd Street Y in New York with famed liberal blogger and gay activist, Andrew Sullivan, was conducted in late 2006 and was part of McGreevey’s promotional tour for his book, The Confession. When finished with this, the listener is invited to check out other confessions, from Augustine to De Quincey.
