This is a mystery western. In this book Jake gets a message that his Father has killed his Mother. He leaves the army and goes home. I won't spoil it but saying to much. There is a great story line. Jake takes over running the ranch. He goes looking for his father because he wants answers. This story is written in a way that holds your attention. There is a good hunt in the hunt for his Father. Skip this if you want a good western’
Long on narrative and short on action. This was a slow, boring, predictable love story that was simply set in the old west. This was my third book by Petit. If this has been my first one, I would never have read the other two.
