A great story, with drama and second chances!

This story begins with Jake waking up in Vegas with a wedding ring on, and no memory of the night before. Throughout the story your torn between what's going on with Jake as he's sent on a mission, and the drama of what's unfolding amongst his family back home. This was a great read, and I found myself unable to stop until the end!

Strange

This is a strange way to end a story. Not that it wasn't good, just strange.

What other book might you compare Jake to and why?

I have no other I'm sorry Sharon Hamilton's books are so different than the rest I have read.

2nd chance love

A second chance romance Hamilton-style. I wasn't sure I liked Jake at the beginning, but as I listened to more of the story he become mores lovable and thanks to his ex wife Ginger he gets a 2nd chance at HEA. Their journey is not an easy one, but in the end it all works out. Listening to Mr. Hart the characters come to life is always a pleasure.

So much!!!

There is so much wow to this book I am not sure where to begin because as always I do my best to review without giving away any major plot points...

So let me say that when the book finished I thought that my Ipod had screwed up or I had gotten a bad copy from Audible but nope... In a panic I started to email Sharon about it and then I checked her coming soon and yes there is a Jake 2 coming!

Normally this would have me in fits because I want the story, the whole story right now BUT this is Sharon Hamilton. I guess I can wait (impatiently) for the next part but it is going to be torture! Still I do recommend this book and that is because not only is Sharon an excellent writer but JD Hart! The man could read the Manhattan phone book and I would buy it... No seriously I would... He is truly a gifted storyteller!

Admirable!

Would you listen to Jake again? Why?

Jake is not my ideal SEAL but his story is entertaining so I'm sure I would.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ginger is the hero of this story and she is an admirable woman because she is accepting of Jake's many flaws and she is a wonderful mother and daughter-in-law during a critical point in Jake's life.

What does J.D. Hart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

J.D. Hart is awesome and beautifully enhances every story Sharon Hamilton writes. Her books wouldn't be the same without his entertaining narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the ritual of welcoming the SEALs back home after a mission and the excitement of the young children really touched my heart.

Any additional comments?

I'm looking forward to hearing more of Jake's continuing family drama with his parents.

A complex story

Have you listened to any of J.D. Hart’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have found J. D. Hart to be a very talented narrator. This audiobook is no exception. He brings the story to life.

Any additional comments?

When I started listening to the audiobook I thought,” oh, no, another womanizer” and was turned off. But , we are talking about a story by Ms Hamilton, so of course, within a few pages I had an “Ah”, moment
It was a very good story. In this case , we revisit Jake Green, one of the Navy Seals, who has been married twice, and lived with another woman. His true love is his first wife, Ginger.
But the story is more complicated than them reconnecting. The author takes us into the lives of these brave men, as professionals and family men, their trials and tribulations, their sacrifices, and the conflicts both internal and external etc. It showcases , as well, the relationships not only of their wives/girlfriends/ children, but also of their parents and siblings. In this case, Jake’s.
That said, I felt that MANY questions were left unanswered and the ending was a tad sudden. Hopefully, we will get a resolution in the near future.
I do want to point out that the narration by J.D. Hart , is excellent.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
