Publisher's summary

Jaime Thomas: My life is turned upside down when I'm suddenly given custody of my sister's infant daughter. My dad used to call me the troubled child. As a high school dropout and former party animal, I admit, he was right. But I'd been trying to figure things out. The problem is that I'm barely able to stand on my own feet, and the sudden pressure of caring for a newborn is too much. I guess that’s why I formed a fascination with a local children’s show host and author.

Mr. Macintosh knows kids. He’s calm, stable, and dependable. He’s everything I wish I was. His show is the only thing in this world to offer me any comfort. I've never wanted a man before, but I crave him—his stability, soothing voice, advice. I'll take whatever I can get.

Ethan Mack: As a local children's entertainer, I'm used to parent fans, but Jaime is different. In my life, I've only known one other person who was so obviously overwhelmed, and it didn’t end well. The trauma has pushed me forward all these years, but now I feel like I have a second chance to right things. Helping Jaime and his daughter won’t fix the tragedies in my past, but I can’t stop myself from trying. If anyone can make this right, it’s me. I'll do whatever it takes to make Jaime happy.

Jaime is a single-dad romance set in the shared world of Gaynor Beach. It features some dark themes, but is primarily about finding support, a family, and love when you least expect it.

Warning for discussions about postpartum depression, infanticide, and suicide, not by the main characters.

Really enjoyable

Both the author SA Sway and the performer Mick Janek are new to me so this was a refreshing title - a cleansing of the palate so to speak. The story itself was good; I liked the single unprepared parent/Bi-awakening aspect and little Evie is adorable! The performance was good, Janek has a nice pleasing voice but it does nothing for me....you know those performers that could read a dictionary and still get you heated? well that's not Janek. On a good note he didn't perform in any way that took you out of the story either. There were definitely some 🔥 scenes but at the end of the day I don't see Ethan and Jaime's love everlasting. I feel that Jaime fell in love because Ethan is his savior - he needed help with Evie and Ethan was there. Ethan fell in love because he needed someone to rescue. If that dynamic never changed then they might make it...but what happens when/if Jamie grows and becomes more independent? losing his fear of driving and perhaps wanting to branch out and do other things that he was afraid to do before? Things separated from Ethan? Well that's the beauty of reading/listening to romance novels. The characters are immortalized as they are.

4 stars - worthy of a repeat listen
