Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author and social media expert Gary Vaynerchuk shares hard-won advice on how to connect with customers and beat the competition. A mash-up of the best elements of Crush It! and The Thank You Economy with a fresh spin, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook is a blueprint to social media marketing strategies that really works.

When managers and marketers outline their social media strategies, they plan for the "right hook"—their next sale or campaign that's going to knock out the competition. Even companies committed to jabbing—patiently engaging with customers to build the relationships crucial to successful social media campaigns—want to land the punch that will take down their opponent or their customer's resistance in one blow. Right hooks convert traffic to sales and easily show results. Except when they don't.

Thanks to massive change and proliferation in social media platforms, the winning combination of jabs and right hooks is different now. Vaynerchuk shows that while communication is still key, context matters more than ever. It's not just about developing high-quality content, but developing high-quality content perfectly adapted to specific social media platforms and mobile devices—content tailor-made for Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Tumblr.

Gary needed to be the narrator.

I listen to Gary on many platforms. I was very disappointed after buying this to hear that it was read by someone else. Gary's charisma and energy is one of the things that I enjoy most about his content. I still love your stuff but next time read it for us!

2013 not 2023

I don’t know whether the date was hidden, and I didn’t do my own due diligence, but Audible made it look like this book was newer.

So…everything is super dated. There is still value in learning 2013 ideas and techniques - many fundamentals don’t really change, but the specifics were very dated.

The narrator was good: something I would have accepted maybe a bit more if the content weren’t so out of date - though he pronounced a few things strangely. Not the end of the world. Just “ok”. So, 3/5

Content might have even been 2/5, but it’s still Gary V, so it has to be 3/5.

A but disappointing but still worth the play if you are a Vee disciple.

I’ve been following Gary for a long time

The first thing I ever had a real challenge with was the thought that “the culture was number one.” in my current job and previous culture was a bunch of adults that never grown in high school picking favorites. But I’ve learned so much from Gary the years I followed him. Along with, and the number of audiobooks, they have taught me what culture really is. And how it promotes the company is not personal interest, and how the company has personal interests and the people That work for it. I’m on LinkedIn, working on being a key note speaker in the church facilities management world, and beyond. What I really enjoy about Gary vee is his ability to just give back. Hey, I’m gonna put you in the exact same arena as me with the same information and the same cards and I genuinely believe he wants people to succeed. I just think him for the time he puts into these books to help people who have that first step issue that I don’t know what to do issue or I know how to do it or I can’t figure it out. Which was me and arguably could still be me. This is a great book that really helped layout how to use social media and the benefits of it. I’m really looking forward to the next book on AI. Another topic I am jumping into.

Outdated beyond

When I get books on audible, I try and get the most recent one especially if they are about social media, so when I saw this book was released at the end of March 2023, I thought great, a book with the latest stuff. But it turns out this book was released in 2013!!! And it’s just a rehash of old outdated social medias when Vine was all the hype and google glass was about to be released! Plus it’s not narrated by Gary Vee himself.
At least, you realise that Gary may not be such a visionary after all as some of his predictions were a bit off. Praising Google Plus and seeing it become a household name didn’t age well.
All in all, one word: Avoid!

The Narrator has no clue!!

Really ruins the experience, getting advice from someone whose just reading it from a book. This narrator has no clue what Gary is advising. It's not spoken with genuine heart. Gary, I thought you'd narrate all your books. Who could do it better than you.

Below average

This book mainly describes how various social media platforms work with some good and bad examples. That’s not how educational material should be structured, in my opinion.
