Publisher's Summary

Two-hundred years after its first publication, Ivanhoe remains both a timeless classic and a revered example of chivalric romance.

With a fanciful and extravagant view of 12th century England, join Wilfred of Ivanhoe in Sir Walter Scott’s classic medieval romance novel as he battles rivals, faces off with nobles, and wins the heart of Lady Rowena.

After being disowned by his father, Wilfred returns from the third crusade to an England in strife. Descendants of Saxons and families of Norman nobles all vie for control, with treachery and conflict rife. With elaborate tournaments, daring rescues, and the siege of a medieval castle, this timeless classic is a testament to 19th century fiction and a must-listen for anyone interested in the stories of old.

Referencing historical figures such as Harold Godwinson, the last Saxon king, King Richard the Lionheart, and Leopold of Austria, this book is both a blend of fantastical entertainment and historical events.

I really liked the language and the story....

I had so much fun listening to the courtly / slightly old-fashioned English and the way the story is told. Also, to me Christopher Preece does a great Job narrating it. Recommended. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
