Book ruined by narrator

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would but not in audible form. The book has some juvenile sentences and word choices but overall, the story is a good one. The narrator ruined the experience for me with mistakes and dead air and repeated sentences and paragraphs. It was hard to listen to the whole book but since I paid for it, I suffered through it. Good thing Book 2 has a different narrator or I would forego this whole series in audible form.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline was fresh and attention grabbing.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Marlon Braccia?

Anybody. She did not do a good job at all. She drops letters and words, loses her place, repeats sentences and sometimes whole sections of paragraphs and just made listening to this book pure torture.

Was Itsy Bitsy Spider worth the listening time?

With a different narrator, maybe. With this lady reading it, I feel like it was a waste of my time and money.

Any additional comments?

Quality control in audible books is usually really good. Mispronounced words are usually the worst mistake you hear. This book sounds like it was being read to a child and recorded by a child.

Story was good but the recording was bad

I enjoyed the book but the person recording the story was repetitive and paused a lot. At one point I could hear her phone ringing in the background.

Frustrating

Nice story but the narrator needs to drink water! I can’t listen on my EarPods because there so many dry mouth sounds! She stumbles over words too! Nice voice but not enjoyable listening

Horror and mystery are the best mix :P

Well, this is another excellent first book, and I really liked the story. I liked how deeply engrained it was to the town's life was the whole thing, and how clueless was Emma at the beginning, about all those hidden currents. Emma is a great character, her sense of family is strong and she is strong and decided to get the best possible life for her kids. The plot was really good and there were enough red herrings to keep me involved without letting me guess the ending. And yes, this is a mystery with a lot of horror mixed in, so if that's not your cup of tea you better skip this one. Me? I loved it! Again, the audiobook could have been better with some extra editing, but I still liked Marlon Braccia's narration, although I keep wondering if Audible has the narrator's name right. It really sounds like a woman to me :P

Not for me

This book was just not the right tone for the narration, it put me to sleep, twice. I wish I had not downloaded it. But it cost me nothing, so nothing gained and nothing lost. Try it , though, many have liked this book and so you may like it also.

I'm confused on the good reviews

What disappointed you about Itsy Bitsy Spider?

The writing mostly. The grammar could have been better , but just her over all fluidity needs a lot of work.

Has Itsy Bitsy Spider turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nope.

How could the performance have been better?

The funny thing is that on Marlon Braccia's Voice page she mentions this style as being..articulate. Which is very ironic because she was anything but. She mumbled several times, slurred words together and there were even points where I just could not understand what shew as saying no matter how many times I listened.

Any additional comments?

I think this could have been a very entertaining book without the glaring problems with the writing and reader. It's really a shame I was looking forward to this.

Good start, disappointing finish

Great set up, interesting characters. Loved the way the story went back and forth from past to present. The ending was a big letdown. Too many things left hanging. What about the church, and the spider paintings, and the psychic son? It's an ok read but not something I'd recommend.

The book was great but the audio book was terrible. Too many delays and hesitations. Also repeated content.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

I really enjoyed the story, although I did prefer the Jack Ryder series more. I found this book and story to be a bit slow to put all the pieces together, but did enjoy the story. The characters were good, although would have preferred more of their lives, but am sure it will all come together in the next book in the series. The narration was good.
