Publisher's Summary

This radio dramatization of the classic movie, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, features the original stars: Clark Gable, who was named Best Actor, and Best Actress winner Claudette Colbert. It aired on March 20, 1939.

The Lux Radio Theatre was one of radio's most popular series, attracting Hollywood's top stars and boasting a lavish budget. It began in 1934 by featuring dramas from Broadway, but there was not enough material to support the show. In an attempt to reverse the slipping ratings, the show was moved to Hollywood in 1936, where there was plenty of material and talent. In fact, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille often served as the host.

Wonderful story!

I first fell in love with Clark Gable at the tender age of 5. Handsome, debonair, and sexy! Claudette Corbett is lovely, funny, and perfect for this movie! I enjoyed this Audible as it took me back to a time that I wish I could visit, if only for a day. It's a wonderful and funny love story!

An historical gem

A programme of particular interest to fans of the film, and those interested in the history of Hollywood and a particular stytle of advertising.
