Publisher's summary

March 3, 1933, the day before Franklin Roosevelt's inauguration. Siblings Lily and Robert Brewster have agreed to help out at a nursing home next door to their own cottage, dubbed Grace & Favor. The convalescent home is full of colorful characters, including a cantankerous old man named Sean Connor. The day the Brewsters arrive, he slips into a coma and dies. No one is surprised at his passing - until it's revealed that he's been murdered. And Mr. Connor isn't the only victim in town.

With multiple murders plaguing the community, the Brewster siblings are more committed than ever to helping the police find a cold-blooded criminal before he strikes again.

Cute period piece

The story of a brother & sister whose family fortune has seen better days, takes place after the depression. Interesting character development. Plot line a bit thin. Don't think that I will read another in this series.

I like the interspersed history!

historical-fiction, historical-places-events, cozy-mystery, series, murder, law-enforcement

The series is set in New York state during the Depression. In this one it is March of 1933, and the incidental history facts check out. The town sheriff is tasked with solving a murder of a terminally ill man in a care home where the main protagonists are temporarily working. He is also helping out a neighboring department with some unusual issues. There are twists and surprises in the investigation as well as some interesting things at the care home. A short but very interesting story!
Wendy Dillon does a nice job as narrator.
