What he didn't expect, however, is the beautiful but broken female pitting herself against his resolve. Publisher's Summary
The first book in the USA Today best-selling series.
Sasha has been different her whole life. She sees things in the shadows that no one else can see. But it isn't until a mishap on the wrong side of town that she meets him.
The Boss.
A powerful, primal being that enforces his own set of rules. Scorching hot and wickedly deadly, he takes what he wants. And he wants her.
As a new world unfolds around her, Sasha discovers that not all secrets stick to the shadows. The Boss has brought out a magic in her that is centuries lost, and greatly needed.
Her struggle isn't just to stay alive. It's also against her desire to flirt with danger.
Warning: 18+ for graphic sexual situations and darker themes. Read the reviews. This audiobook might not be for you. The "vampires" do not follow societal rules or have any love for humans. It shows. While that will be addressed and their culture changed in later audiobooks, be prepared for the ride.

When Sasha Meets Stefan
I feel like this is what would happen if The Vampire Academy Series took a whole bottle of viagra. There is sex every single where.
Sasha is a college student who has always been a bit different. She’s always ignored what she saw in the shadows and wrote herself off as crazy. She finds out just how wrong she was.
Stefan is a broody boss who is too tall and too sexy to be up to anything good. His vampire like kind play with humans like toys (s€x toys) He is inexplicably drawn to Sasha and she to Stefan.
But let me tell you about the real star of the show. It is none other than sprint down the street nudical dudical, punchline to every joke Charles. When he gets a spin-off call me because I am in!
There is action both with and without clothes. There is a mysterious enemy that is swift and deadly. There is more to Sasha than anyone could imagine and Stefan has a big change looming over his head. It all keeps you needing to go to the next book.
This is honestly like you dubbed a porn with YA. But the immaturity makes sense because Charles describes himself as 16 in human years but 34 in his kind’s years. And when you are 16 a handjob is basically the meaning of life.
The narration was good. There were some points when it would switch between characters and it would take me a moment to catch up to who’s point of view I was in.
Overall this was a really fast easy listen that I got a real kick out of.
Be warned there are scenes with dubious consent

I absolutely loved this book. Sasha is definitely a quirky character and I loved how the storyline evolved for her. This book was insanely hot, too. Fantastic story!
WOW! What a fabulous start of a great New series. Definitely a Sci-fi romance with a great amount of action, adventure, intrigue and mystery. I definitely can’t wait for the next book in this series.
It’s a very interesting and intriguing storyline that leaves me wondering what is going to happen next.
The characters are unique with a great sense of humor. There rapid fire of humor had me laughing out loud and getting strange looks from the people around me.
I was pleasantly surprised that the twist and turns kept me interested. I would have to say that this is a great supernatural storyline.
I always enjoy listening to Victoria Mei, she has a pleasant voice. She gives the right amount of inflection to set the mood of each character. She does amazing voices (both Male and Female). The narrator makes the characters come to life.

I love this!
Well..... this was my first KF Breene Book and I can say it won’t be my last.
The beginning had a slow start, I was worried it would be one that I’d have to fight to get through, but, I was wrong. A couple chapters in all kinds of chaos starts and then.... the game is underway.
I love Sasha. She’s kind of a hidden badarsed chick, that has no idea who or what she is. Add into this equation, a crazy, yet hot, vampire named Charles and the Boss, who is not only a total badarse but hotter than the Mohave and you have a lot of things about to happen.
I like the story, the dynamics and the antics. The story had me pulled in and I can’t wait to reread the rest of the series!

I love K.F story. This is book one in a new series. Just like all her stories. K.F wrote A story with lots of action, love and humor and drama. both characters feel an extremely strong desire pull towards each other,. There is a disturbing scene that happened towards the boyfriend. Can’t say more you need to hear it to understand.
Victoria Mei voice is very smooth, clear and very strong. Her voice will draw you into the story till the end

What an outrageous disappointment
I just finished listening to Breene’s The Warrior Chronicles. They were hands down some of the best books I’ve ever read/listened to. Right up there with the tough-as-nails Sarah Lyons Fleming characters and as fascinating as the Harry Potter story—two of my favorite series ever.
After The Warrior Chronicles story I truly thought Breene could do no wrong. I actually bought additional credits to try out this new series, and was that a waste of money. Thankfully I can get them back because I will not finish this first book and I’m looking forward to calling Amazon and getting the credits back for the second and third.
This narrator may easily be the worst one I’ve ever had the misfortune to listen to. Her voice is HORRIBLE. She made the MC’s IQ drop about 50 points and she sounded like a SoCal dumb@ss trying to flirt with the hot surfer boy every other girl wants. It was so bad. How did she even get the job?
Then there was the MC herself! She was barely likable and was quite stupid. And oh my god the dumb crap she said. I cringed.
All in all, it just wasn’t an acceptable entrance into a new Breene world.

Terrible. What is this crap?
This book made me uncomfortable. They have sex scenes with 2 KIDS that sound like they are in high school. “I know you are but what am I?” Is literally a line the main girl says. What the heck is this? Such a waste of credit, time, and taking up space for a good book that could be narrated.

More, please!!
I listened to the older version of Into the Darkness a few years back, I was so excited to know it has been republished. The storyline is very steamy and engaging, taking a refreshing approach to the vampire lore. The characters are all we-developed and delightful. Honestly, I can't wait for the rest of the series to be published. K.F. Breene is a brilliant storyteller and a talented author; I absolutely love her. The narration by Victoria Mei is fabulous. She does an outstanding job with the characters' voices, emulating their emotions and moods. She is a gifted narrator with a smooth voice and a steady pace. I enjoyed this audiobook from the start to end, and I highly recommend it.

Pretty good
Story is interesting, pace is good, characters are good. It’s a little predictable but still good.
The narrator has an annoying valley girl accent that is even more pronounced when conveying annoyance or anger in the character which just makes me laugh. Not my favourite but not the worst I’ve heard.

intriguing start to a very dark sexy PNR
First, just a warning for the series; if you don’t like books that contain sex scenes then this isn’t the series for you. This series is aptly named Darkness and does take the reader to some very dark places, so anyone with a sensitive disposition should probably not read it.
Now if that hasn't set you off, let me tell you this series is amazing. Yes a bit Dark, but that is part of the series name. I love the unique take on vampires, and how amazing Sasha is. Definitely a series that sucks you in and leaves you wanting more.

Terrific!
I absolutely love that there are no slow parts to this audiobook. Always something going on. Plus the H/h are wicked cool and perfect together. Action, humor, mystery, paranormal and steamy scenes. PERFECTION! It doesn't hurt to have one of the best narrators around perform the audiobook either ;)

Great beginning of a series...
This is not a stand alone... the story about Sasha is fun and intriguing. What is the Boss and why is he so reluctant to act on his instincts. Sasha and her boyfriend learn a lot about the dark side while they take the reader though their experience. I would love to see what Sasha is capable of and what will happen with the Boss.

Darkness Book One
Darkness Book One.
Sasha has lived her life as an outsider since a childhood accident where she was the lone survivor. She sees things in the darkness that others do not. As with most secrets, her powers have led to awkward situations with her potential friends and lovers. Now that she has pushed those powers to the back of her mind, dark creatures are seeping into her everyday life. After she and her boyfriend are in a car accident on the bad side of town, one creature seems to pop up wherever she goes. Known as 'The Boss', Stefan pulls Sasha into his world and everything gets worse.
If you're looking for a book where vampiric creatures begin to see the light and humans fall into their world, this is the book for you. HOWEVER, please be aware there are several TRIGGERS in this book.

Great start!
This was an amazing start to the series. It hooked me! I loved Sasha and her quirkiness. She is sassy and very inquisitive. There is so much mystery behind the little snippet in the beginning. I keep waiting for more. The pull between her and Stefan is so intense, it's palpable. Stefan is mysterious and powerful in many ways. I wanted to read so much more about them. I already started on the next one and have the others in my library! That good! Chemistry is off the charts!
The narrator is really good. She has great inflection and does a wonderful job with changing up her voice for each character.

Good book!
This is a great paranormal book! The characters are interesting, the narration is spot in, and it’s just good!
Sasha has felt different her whole life, she sees things that others think she is crazy. She has a boyfriend who has been her life, but he doesn’t understand her either. She has other paranormals after her, wanting her to join them... but she doesn’t know why. She is drawn to Stefan...
Stefan is the boss. He leads a group of paranormals. He is drawn to Sasha, strongly. He is not sure about her, but knows there is something about her. She has power... he should stay away.
Victoria Mei does a great job with this story and all of the characters!

Into the Darkness
Fun story of a woman trying to find out if the shadowmen she see's are real and what their story is. Read brilliantly by Victoria Mei.

Wonderful
I LOVED this novel and the narrator does a brilliant job. The only problem was that it was too short.
