A fantastic way to step up your French

My French has never been perfect, and I don't expect it ever will be. But, reaching conversational fluency has been my goal and these stories certainly helped me with that. I never got the opportunity to practice my French on a consistent basis. So when speaking French out loud with the help of the companion document I was able to improve my pronunciation. Now I'm going to role play with some of my French speaking friends.

Well done

The outer space stories were the most memorable for me. It was like I was a little kid again while learning without a care in the world. Some good life lessons mixed in with some French comprehension. Two thumbs up.

Solidified my French understanding

Although I wasn't able to understand every single word, I was stunned at how much I actually did pick up on. I credit the narrator for taking a seemingly boring educational task and making it fun!

Interesting way to learn a language

Ya'll did a damn good job on these stories. Just what I needed. I don't get to practice much French, so this tickled my itch for some good learning material.

Well thought out structure

Definitely tons of natural dialogues in each story I find myself using in everyday conversation. At times the narrator paused, especially in the vocabulary sections to reinforce the meaning. Quite helpful which will significantly improve your speaking and comprehension ability at the same time!

Rekindled my love for French

I forgot how much I love French. It's been a while since went over my French knowledge. I still remember a ton and this was a nice refresher that proved how beautiful the language is. Definitely helps when the narrator is calm and enthusiastic at just the right moments throughout the stories. Cool idea!

Encourages me to stay on the French learning journ

Love love love! Although short, these tales do make for a great listen while I'm on the road and want to squeeze some French in.

Clear and precise pronunciation

Excellent! I never had a great resource for foreign languages that provided real world situations to learn from. Having the vocabulary of the story broken down into easy manageable parts is a cool idea. The narration in both languages is clear and easy to understand. I think he must have lived in the States and a French speaking country because I can't find a flaw with his narration. Top notch!

Fun while Learning..!

"I really enjoyed the narrator! His slow, excellent pronunciation of words & phrases to be engaging and helpful to understand new French vocabulary.

He is an excellent storyteller so that a non-French speaker can grasp what he is talking about and can understand the whole story. The highs & lows of his voice as he speaks was very conversational and true to the ear. Overall, I found this a useful audio book both for a beginner and Intermediate French learners as this serves as an excellent base to improve your conversational skills."

Well narrated

First of all I have to say the narration was superb. Nothing is more helpful than being able to understand the material at a reasonable speed. I didn't feel rushed and the intermediate level was just hard enough. Goob job.

Help content

I usually struggle with conjugations and material that overall made me want to quit learning French. Glad I stumbled across this book and decided to pull the trigger. I'll probably pick up the beginner short stories audiobook as well due to the structure of the lessons / stories.

STOP BEGGING FOR REVIEWS

after every few stories. It's irritating and desperate and off-putting and intrusive and I'd have given a much better review if not hassled for one, it's really really annoying.
While linguistically helpful and well read, the stories are really basic and incredibly tedious, boring content with childish motifs, despite the narrator's assertion that they're 'amazing'.
Also the Q&A section at the end off each book would be much better structured with each question followed by the answer rather than a separate question section and answer section. This is because since I'm listening to an audiobook, it would be nice not to have to get pen and paper involved so I can jot down the answers to check in a later section, wouldn't have to do if questions were answered as posed. Secondly in a product that professes the goal of vocabulary expansion, having the answer section format " 1a 2b 3c" is not only dull to listen to but misses an obvious place to repeat and emphasize vocabulary in the answers, which educationally is a lot more valuable than listening to "1a2b2c". Weird decision.

Struggling to learn French this isn't much help

The stories are rather simplistic with a very spelt-out moral, and I have feeling that the targeted audience is meant to be young adults. At least that would explain the very banal stories that center around some young persons' hassles with life in general. Mostly it ends with the lead character coming to terms with his/her station in life. Yawn.
The narrator's accent puzzles me, I wonder if he is Canadian? That might explain why he sounds American English and his French sounds a bit out of place to me, at least it doesn't sound like the French I am exposed to here in Strasbourg.
I think I will stick with the Coffee Break podcasts.

The opposite of boring!

"If you want to fall asleep while learning French this audiobook is DEFINITELY NOT for you! Loved the array of different stories.. Outer space to life lessons. Unique concept to easily follow along.
The vocabulary review and questions at the end were also super useful."

Great resource

When I came across this book it really helped me not only reinforce what I already knew but also grow my vocab. The repetition helped me pronounce certain words correctly and use proper conjugation! This book is wonderful for those who want to learn French.
