Publisher's summary

When 16-year-old Cheyenne Hawkins tries to ignore the fact that she is different than other kids her age, she learns the hard way that life can spiral out of control, and people can get hurt, even die, when she goes with the flow rather than facing the truth. For Cheyenne, a teenage triplet living in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, life has recently begun to take a strange turn. Things were crazy enough with the insanely hot new guy in her life that comes with a mysterious past; her nosy, showboating brothers constantly interfering in her love life and flirting with her friends; her sister's mixed martial arts activities; and her old friend getting jumped and being hospitalized.

As if balancing all of that with homework and softball wasn't enough, she suddenly seems to possess some sort of bizarre ability: the ability to see or feel things about people - usually frightening things that she definitely doesn't want to see or feel. Danger and violence seem to be looming everywhere. Are these visions real or her imagination? What does it all mean? And why does it seem like her Aunt Fabulous knows something about it?

OK start to a series

The pace of this book was steady if a little boring. It was the day to day activities of a teenager with a picture perfect family. I kept waiting for her ability to put her into some seriously scary intrigue but it never happened. It did do a good set up for future books. The narration was excellent.

Good teen drama, adventure and great characters

I love the characters in this book! I loved discovering their personalities as individuals, but I truly enjoyed getting to know the family in this book.

This book is full of modern day teen activities. I enjoyed it from the parent perspective.

The audiobook narration is superb! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Inspiraled and was sad when it ended...because I wanted MORE! I hope the author has more in store for Cheyenne and her family, I'm ready to go on a new adventure with them.

INSPIRALED – written by Penelope Aaron and read by Bradetta Vines

insprialed

This is the story of Cheyenne, a triplet, living in Washington, D.C., and her paranormal ability to “sense” things about people she touches.

I enjoyed this audiobook because the narrator did a really good job with both the male and female voices.

The story seemed to move just a little too slow for me. Too much time focused on details of Cheyenne’s day to day life made the story drag, rather than propel the plot forward. There was also a strange dynamic in the family. The character and her siblings all seemed to get along too well. For example, they were building forts in the living room for movie night, as older teenagers, and never really having any disputes or real arguments. This just seems unrealistic to me.

Potentially Offensive Content:
Sex – kissing between consenting teenagers
Violence – a teenager is attacked by a group of other teenagers
Language – I did not keep a tally, but I do not recall there being excessive cursing

A GREAT YA STORY

Would you consider the audio edition of Inspiraled to be better than the print version?

I would like them both, but listening to the story rather than reading it brings a new aspect and meaning to the story.

What did you like best about this story?

The closeness of the family. This book really promotes family togetherness in a world where everybody is busy doing their own thing.

What about Bradetta Vines’s performance did you like?

She was able to give each character their own personality so I was better able to connect with each character.

Any additional comments?

Paranormal Young Adult

The day to day life of a nice, well behaved, wholesome teenager Cheyenne who has a close nit family. Home life, church, school, friends and job all normal. The only thing that is unusual is when she touches people and gets a glimpse of an event that has happened in their life.

I understand setting the scene and giving details, but when every person, every setting, every activity is described in detail it leaves little room for the story to progress. Is there really a reason to know what every single character is wearing? There is a fine line between not enough and to much detail.

The story moves slowly and while it does have enjoyable, entertaining and interesting parts, enough to keep you listening, I kept waiting for something "more" to happen. Just when something significant happens the book ends. It basically sets up for the next installment. If the book had less useless detail and a little more action it could have been really great. With that said, the story has the potential of becoming a really good one and I will probably listen to the next book to find out.

Bradetta Vines did a great job with the narration. She has a voice that fits the age of the character. Her male and female character voice's were great. Clear narration, nice even pace. Would definitely listen to her narration again.

Inspiring

Cheyenne Hawkins is a typical teen obsessed with her phone and her social life and blessed with a fun, awesome family. Her life seems pretty good to her. She has a beautiful sister, two overprotective brothers, and a little sister she adores. Her parents, grandparents and especially Aunt Fabulous make adults fun to be around. She slowly learns that not everyone has it as good as she does all while learning that she has an ability to sense things about people when she comes in contact with them.

This listen took a long time to get things moving but, even so, kept my interesting in a gossipy, chatty, girlfriend spilling her most inner thoughts kind of way. It balances a really fantastic home life with showing a glimpse of an abusive family. Cheyenne comes to a crossroads and must decide if she is going to ignore her new ability or do something about the things she sees.

The narration by Bradetta Vines was perfect for this YA material. She captured the feel of teenage life effortlessly and was excellent throughout the entire listen.

Good Start To A Teen Series

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I love teen genre. The characters were interesting and well developed. It was a laid back story with very little drama and action for most of it.

This book describes everyday normal teen days with a little intrigue about Cheyenne and her flash visions when she touches someone. She doesn't understands what is going on until towards the end which finally picks up with some drama, action, and suspense.

The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. The story is told in Cheyenne's POV. The story was a bit too slow for me but I'm hoping the next book will be more exciting with more intriguing and suspenseful things happening.

A step into the mind and life of a teenager

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was the first one I've listened to that didn't threaten to put me to sleep as I drove. Stepping into the life of a teenager for a few hours was a great way to pass the time more quickly.

The reader did a good job capturing the different personalities and providing added interest through her performance. And she had great material to work with.

The descriptions in the book were so vivid I could imagine I was right there with Cheyenne, the main character, every step of the way, seeing what she saw, experiencing what she experienced, worrying about her fears and concerns.

Near the end of the book, the suspense increased substantially and I found myself gripping the steering wheel more tightly, anxious for Cheyenne as she faced scary situations and tried to understand how everything fits together - her new talent, her friends, her family, and figuring out who the "good guys" are.

The stage is set for great adventures ahead and I can't wait to see what happens next!

meh, it was Okay.

This book was Okay. I think I would of liked it better maybe if I was in high school, or middle school. I would not classify this as " young adult" It did move slow, It was enough to keep me a little interested for a while.

I kept waiting for something to happen.. For her "gift" to happen and take the story in a different direction. Checking the time on the audio book; I was 3 and a half hours in and there was still nothing. blah blah blah, on and on. I just had to keep listening to her teenage life. I learned she has a story book family life, kindof Brady Bunch like, and is pretty much a goody good.
this book finally picked up the last 3 chapters. then boom it was over and you have to read the next book to find out more.
So basically I feel like I spent 6 ½ long hours waiting to get into a book, that was boring, slow and just developing characters. With really no mention of her “ gift” but maybe a small glimpse here and there. to be set up for the next book. I hate that! such a let down.

The narrator I am sure would be great at anther story, but trying to pull off some of the teenage boys and girls voices was not the best.
