Publisher's summary

In this explosive psychological thriller by New York Times best-selling author Lisa Unger, a young woman's mysterious gift forces her into the middle of a dangerous investigation of a little girl's disappearance.

For as long as she can remember, 20-year-old Finley Montgomery has been able to see into the future. She dreams about events before they occur and sees beyond the physical world, unconsciously using her power to make supernatural things happen.

But Finley can't control these powers - and there's only one person who can help. So Finley moves to The Hollows, a small town in upstate New York where her grandmother lives, a renowned seer who can finally teach Finley how to use her gift - a gift that is proving to be both a blessing and a curse, as Finley lands in the middle of a dangerous investigation involving a young girl who has been missing for 10 months, and the police have all but given up hope.

With time running out, there's only so much Finley can do as The Hollows begins to reveal its true colors. As she digs deeper into the town and its endless layers, nothing is what it seems. But one thing is clear: The Hollows gets what it wants, no matter what.

Gripping story

The story was interesting and haunting, but hard to follow due to the narration. Punctuation and inflection as well as the voice overs were poorly executed.

Worth the Listen

Many other reviews trash the narration as bland and flat. I'm glad I listened to a sample because I really enjoyed the narration! She was more subtle with different characters and she didn't over perform it. It was a good story!

Good, but hard to follow. Uninspiring narrator.

There were too many storylines to follow that weren't clearly marked. The narrative was fairly bland.

great book, but worst narraration I've ever heard

Where does Ink and Bone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story was great, I like all the stories that are linked to the hallows. Just wish they would have chosen someone who could read

What other book might you compare Ink and Bone to and why?

none

What didn’t you like about Molly Pope’s performance?

Robotic, monotone. Like she was just learning to read. No emotion, didn't sound natural at all.

A jewel of a ghost story

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Kept me up into the night, had to know what happened. Lots of little surprises and subplot mysteries that are eventually resolved in unexpected ways.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, almost did.

Any additional comments?

I never re-hash the plot outlines in my reviews because the publisher has already done that. Wonderful characters, rich atmosphere and very zippy pacing. Only nitpicking from me would be that the wrap-up chapters are a little long, but after the fast paced trip through the psychic's wild ride in time and space, gathering frustrating glimpses of tantalizing clues it doesn't matter. My reaction: Really well done and well worth the credit.

Good, yet sad story but....

I found the reader's voice so very difficult to listen to, but continued because I had used a credit. I was able to get into the storyline despite the reader's monotonous voice and the weird way she read each sentence with no fluency...like she was reading each word as a first-time reader. Too choppy!!

This tale left me wanting more.

An awesome and complex tale. Makes me curious as to just how many Finleys really do exist.

Worst. Narrator. Ever.

The story is excellent but the narrator ruins it with her mechanical voice and mispronunciation of words. For example, "could-int" and "wood-int;" I felt like I was listening to an adolescent.

Well crafted

A very satisfying listen/read, skilfully woven by the author and well performed by the reader.
