Publisher's summary

New town, new school. Same story. I'm Laura, I've spent most of my life crisscrossing the county yielding to the whims of my transient mother. We've never stayed in one place long enough to call it home, and I don't have any hope of that changing.

I follow the rules; no drawing attention to myself, no friends, and especially, no boys.

But my mom's been keeping secrets - secrets so profound they threaten to turn my world upside down. I've always assumed her paranoia was a symptom of a mental illness, but as her secrets begin to unravel, I realize nothing is what it seems.

As my life careens out of control, a group of guys from school promise to give me answers about who I really am. I'm afraid of what I might learn, but more afraid of what I could be giving up if I don't listen.

Contains mature themes.

Mostly Good

I’ve read this book before and liked it. The narration was not very good. The mispronunciation of main character names was difficult to hear like nails on a chalkboard. The voices she used were not the way they were described and mostly monotonous. Hard to tell characters apart from each other because of her voice.

Annoying MC

I’m not usually super picky about characters but geez this one really bugged me. She was so whiney and insecure in herself, and it gets old fast. I’m interested to see where the story goes because not much happens in the first book. I did purchase the second one with hopes that her character gets less annoying and cringe worthy.

The book was padded the idea is interesting

A lot of reviews were about how annoying the MFC seemed to be. With the back story and her mother… let’s say the crazy rubbed off. She reacted exactly how someone who grew up in that situation would react. She will seem emotionally immature because of this as well as not be able to make up her own mind or trust people.

What I disliked the most was the clearly padded content, yes I will be reading the rest because curiosity and hope that she grows more. Same with the guys, I understand them trying to use kid gloves in the beginning. Wasn’t fantastic but also wasn’t bad.

New direction

I have a lot of questions, but I really enjoyed this book. A very independent female lead. She grew up like a lone wolf and now has to come to terms that is no longer the case. Her mother went missing and it is still unknown why. What’s up with the house mate Mia and then there is Delaney. I love the pig pile sleeping arrangement. Still wondering what is the purpose of an ‘Infinity.’

I need to know what happens next.

I went into this audiobook without any knowledge of what it was about, then ended up binging listening to it at work in two days! The build up to the story and how well it makes you feel like you know the characters will make you say "I need to know what happens next"

Four Stars

Good plot. A bit slow moving. The mystery keeps you interested though. I like the fact that the characters are flawed. Characters who are too perfect crush believability.

The characters are just too exasperating!

I understand trying to build suspense, but getting explanations was like pulling teeth! 😬

Everyone is so hesitant to explain to this poor girl what is happening to her, then just when it seems something might be revealed, another character will decide the moment is getting too awkward, and say “Let’s order pizza.” and the whole thing gets dropped.

The girl gets overly offended by silly things and just glosses over things that would make most people really angry.

She completely ignores what should be obvious important questions about who certain people are and why they’re even there, then the book just ends with more questions than answers.

This is a blatant attempt to coerce you to buy the next book, but by the time I finished it, I was so irritated I just didn’t care.

Sorry, it was in interesting premise, but this one just wasn’t for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️
