I am a fan of the narrator, Jenna Lamia. That is how I found this book. I did not realize it is a book for children. I loved it, especially for children, as well as for adults. It is about Spanish Jews who were persecuted. It is a good thing to let our children learn history as seen from a child's eyes.

This story, told from the eyes of a young woman, who learns of family secrets, honesty in friendship, and what love is real and dependable in the world. Such a beautiful story about multigenerational strong women! Thank you, Alice, for another deep story to ponder. Thank you Jenna for bringing Alice’s words to life with such sensitivity and passion!!!

Disappointing, extreme, explicit violence
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would continue on with the heroine's story and follow her into Austria with the people who accompanied her out of her hometown.
What was most disappointing about Alice Hoffman’s story?
I found this book to have a very thin story line. Instead of being centered on the romance between the heroine and the neighbor's male cousin it seemed to be all about how the family was eradicated and the persecution of the Jews. Not that this was not a worthy subject but I kept waiting for some sort of ending. Not necessarily happy, but something with closure. Instead, we see the heroine heading off into the sunset with big dreams. The narrator was excellent, kudos to her. I loved listening to her voice. She was very succinct and her pronunciations (sp?) were perfect.
What about Jenna Lamia’s performance did you like?
Everything, great job.
Could you see Incantation being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes, if a suitable ending was added to complete the continuation of the story.
Beautifully written and read. An deep and wise story that needs to be remembered
I loved it deeply
Incantation is not what I usually expect from Alice Hoffman. Predictable and too simplistic even for teens.
