Hardboiled near-future noir. A missing kid, a pretty woman, a shady politician, the usual...in the meantime, Boston is sinking and parking still sucks.

A film noir vision of an all too possible future.

Any additional comments?

Reminiscent of "The Maltese Falcon" and "Blade Runner," this lurid tale wraps around you, and pulls you in. Smoothly written, and agreeably well read.

A great hardboiled/noir read!

This was a really fun story, falling into a world somewhere between Chinatown and Blade Runner. A private eye is hired by a wealthy mogul to find his missing son, mystery and twists ensue. The little details in this near-future setting are incredibly creative and the story really keeps you guessing until the very end (and then some.) Great narration by Mr. Holsopple.

A non-stop thrill ride through "THE SOUP"

Where does In the Soup rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was my first audible book, and it was a great experience.

What other book might you compare In the Soup to and why?

Reminded me of The Maltese Falcon in the noir style and gritty background.

Any additional comments?

A non-stop thrill ride through the eye of a gritty private-eye and a brilliantly imagined future world. I was pulled into the Story immediately by a desperate situation, and was IN THE SOUP right from the start. Listening to the audio version of this unique story that tells a visceral tale set in a futuristic world. A teen is missing, a private detective is looking for clues to his whereabouts (before it's too late). Told from the viewpoint of the private investigator, we are greeted with the struggle of the oxygen deprivation of his sleep apnea. Descriptive imagery paints in amazing detail the characters, a gritty future world, an amazing array of commonplace future technologies. Kudos to the author for such imaginative tech and the ability to paint the scene in depth with her words. My complements to Brian Holsopple for his awesome voice(s) and reading talents. I found IN THE SOUP to be a virtual page-turner; finishing the entire book in one sitting. Encore!! Encore!!
