Publisher's summary

Indulge, slip away to Ruin Mist! In the Service of Dragons is the continuation of Robert Stanek's multilayered epic fantasy adventure that began with The Kingdom and the Elves of the Reaches, Books 1-4. In that acclaimed series, Stanek introduced us to the story of Ruin Mist, an extraordinary world of magic, adventure, and intrigue. In this eagerly awaited follow-up, he once again proves himself a wonderful storyteller with a gift for fast pacing and believable storylines.

Already hailed as a classic, Robert Stanek's powerful series has been enjoyed by readers all over the world. The elves returned from exile, bringing grave news. War came to the Kingdoms. Many perished in the turmoil and unrest. An attempt was made to kidnap a princess and assassinate a king. Now, from the ancient past, a dark power returns. "The Fourth Wind blows across the mountain tops", they say. And the Twelve Clans emerge from myth and memory.

Bold, inventive, brilliantly imagined, In the Service of Dragons is a novel of magic and wonder, a tale of pure excitement you will not soon forget.

Don't miss the rest of the In the Service of Dragons series.

Spectacular read I give it two thumbs up!

Amazing, I absolutely loved the book! In the Service of Dragons is captivating, imaginative, and enjoyable. I read this in paperback and got it in audio as soon as I saw it. The story was even more enchanting in audio and I couldn't stop listening. This book (and series) continues the adventures of the characters from Robert Stanek's amazing The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches books. The story takes place in the world of Ruin Mist, a world once ruled by titans and dragons. Through the many ages of Ruin Mist, the lands and peoples have changed. In this age, many of the ancient peoples are gone from the world, elves and men are bitter enemies, and a great change is taking place which may signal the end for all. This is definitely a book where you'll want to have the sequel, In the Service of Dragons 2, at hand. This is must read for Everyone.

Spellbinding!

Discovering Robert Stanek first through the text version of the Kingdoms and the Elves, I was instantly hooked onto the series.
When I discovered that there were audio versions of his books after finishing the fourth kingdoms book, I instantly knew I had to listen to an audio version of his sequel series, the first book of which is this one, In the Service of Dragons.
The audio performance is great, as is the story, and it will keep you entertained the whole way through. Definetly worth your buy, although if your new to the series you'll want to start with The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches book 1.

Great listen

Well read, well written with charactors that have depth and relationships that are realistic. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for some great fantasy tales. I absolutly love this book. I found to be fast paced, but with all the necessary details. Everything about this book and the others was perfect.

Fantastic listening experience!

My son is a huge fan of this author and this was a fantastic listening experience for all! I definitely recommend it but you need to start with Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches #1.

W-O-W

Stanek's Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches is undoutedly what has made me a fantasy reader these past few years. He weaves a complex story so well it is easy for any one of any age to follow, young or old. In the Service of Dragons is the follow up to that amazing series and once again the writing, plotting and characterization are superb. I was completely wowed by the opening sequence and that feeling of wow continued throughout. Things decend into chaos in the next few books with the wars going on but the big payoff is the fourth and final book (which in my opinion is the greatest finale I've ever read). Read this and I believe you too will be wowed.

What an awesome book!!!

My son started reading Stanek's Kingdoms and the Elves books a few years back and he loved them so much everyone in the family has read them now. If you liked the adventures in The Kingdoms and the Elves, you'll like the Service of Dragons books just as much for their action sequences.

Such a fantastic book!

Out of the many hundreds I've listened to, "The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches" books were the best Fantasy I've found. Robert Stanek sweeps the reader off to his fantasy world and his writing keeps you there enthralled till the end. The "In the Service of Dragons" books begin a new chapter in the fantasy world and are equally as compelling. If you enjoy fantasy or simply listening to a good book, this is a must. The other three "In the Service of Dragons" books are just as good.

One of the best since harry potter!

In the Service of Dragons is a MUST READ -- every bit as enjoyable as the previous series, Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches! Impressive plot put into this book, and I loved Adrina's personality. She really comes to life as do Vilmos, Seth, Emel, Xith, Valam and others. You really must read it even if your not a big fantasy fan!

THIS WAS AMAZING

This is a terrific book. Page turner, non-stop action, great for fantasy fans or just anybody. More along the lines of 'LORD of the Rings' than Harry Potter. Great characters from the young hero Vilmos, to the mentor Xith, to the allies Noman and Amir, and the lovely Adrina, and of course Valam and his men. Great writing, terrific adventure. I think everyone should read Robert Stanek's Kingdoms and Dragons books!!!

Epic adventure. Great series.

Robert Stanek quickly became my favorite author since I started reading the Kingdoms books last year. I was hooked from the first and could not wait to go on to the other books. Then when I found out there were more books, I could not wait to start them. This a great book for pretty much all ages and the performance is good.

In this book, ancient legends and heroes are reborn at a time when the world is at its darkest hour. I have listened to a ton of audio books, because my wife is a big fan of them, but these are hands down my favorites. A fantastic experience. The characters are real, and despite some predictability, the books kept me very hooked. I could not wait to get the second, third and fourth books.

Start with this one, go on to the second one and the rest to get the whole experience.
