From Ed and Lorraine Warren, the demonologists featured in The Conjuring horror films, comes the story of the most terrifying case of demonic possession in the United States. It became the basis for the hit film The Haunting in Connecticut starring Virginia Madsen. Shortly after moving into their new home, the Snedeker family is assaulted by a sinister presence that preys one-by-one on their family. Exhausting all other resources, they call up the world-renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, who have never encountered a case as frightening as this.

No one had warned the Snedekers their new house used to be an old funeral home. Their battle with an inexplicable and savage phenomena had only just begun. What started as a simple poltergeist escalated into a full-scale war, an average American family battling the deepest, darkest forces of evil a war this family could not afford to lose.

I love the Warren's career. This event was chilling and comforted my interest in the preternatural dark forces.

As the story moved on, I realized that this story was made into a movie, "The Haunting in Connecticut," and that I saw the movie, already. I wished I had read the book, first. The movie was good, but I felt that the book gave the event it's justice.

Definitely a story that you get committed to. You feel for the family and at times found myself cringing at what was occurring. The reader performed very well and my attention was always zeroed in on the events. I do feel like the ending was a little rushed but very well written overall.

Great story, and definitely one of the better ones in this genre. As good as the narrator was, I was always turned away when he started drastically switching voices all the time. I understand for characters you change your voice, but it was really intense changes and made it cringey and weird.
TW: During the description of the rape scenes, it was very sudden and came with no warning, so caution to anybody who may be in a situation where these descriptions can be overwhelming.

Too much from narrator & unforseen Trigger:
