After their parents left them in the care of their abusive uncle and his girlfriend, Aurora turns thirteen and attends Sunday School at the local gospel mission. Despite the abuse, Aurora is determined to find her parents and reunite with them. She steals a large sum of money from her uncle to fund their journey to several Alaska villages. Along the way, Aurora meets Julie, the pastor's wife, who helps her receive Christ and changes her attitude. With Julie and Pastor John's help, they travel to several villages and eventually find their parents in Point Hope, Alaska.
