Why can’t the past stay buried

I loved this installment of Neely Kate’s story where she once again tries unsuccessfully to keep her painful past in the rearview mirror and live a happy life. This book was full of excitement, danger, and sweetness. It was so hard to put down. Neely Kate is portrayed as a real, relatable, and lovable person who has flaws, but is really just trying to do her best as messy human. Just when Neely Kate thinks she has it all together and her life is on track - partners with her best friend, a good relationship with Jed, and building a stronger relationship with her newly discovered half-brother Joe, her crazy half-sister, Kate and her awful past threaten to tear everything down. The book was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, exciting action, danger, family drama, painful pasts, mystery, plot twists, imperfect characters, missteps, and all the big feels. I am looking forward to reading what happens next in Neely Kate’s life. 4.5 stars.

Shannon McManus once again did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

very entertaining and annoying at the same time

i adore NK in all the other books because of her feisty, no non-sense attitude... but in her own books she comes off as really insecure and it is annoying... I do understand why since she been through so much. im hoping her character like Rose will grow more confidant over time.

Great addition to the series

I have been reading this series for a few years now and was excited to listen to this newest story. The story was great, but I didn’t like the ending and hate to have to wait for the next book.

I love this series! I especially love Shannon’s narration. This story makes you especially love Jed more — and live Nellie Kate. I totally recommend this series.

Informative

This series have more insight into Nely Kate history and her relationship with Jed. It provided the details into what happened at the farm. In Mates twisted way she is dealing out the revenge for Nely Kate.
