Publisher's summary

In 2009, Barbara Morello-O'Donnell, a successful architectural rendering artist, contracted the deadly H1N1 flu virus. In a coma, in total renal failure and needing a heart transplant, it was not expected she would survive. To complicate matters, she threw a major stroke, which in the unlikely event of survival would have meant that Barbara would be a blind vegetable. Isolated in a coma that trapped her in the cocoon of her own consciousness, Barbara experiences a different world, where every external sensation is transformed into a part of her own struggle for survival.

Knowing at some level in her psyche that she is at death's door, Barb embarks on a journey that seems to lead beyond the living. Along the way, she meets a cast of characters, most of whom are symbolic of the real people in her life. But there are two encounters that are not with people of this world, and they would change her life forever.

A beautiful story of God’s Amazing grace!!

Barbara’s story took me on an incredible journey of thinking and reflecting on how God pursues us even in a coma. While she was healing in God’s waiting room, because her body was too sick to inhabit, gave me hope and affirmation that He extents grace to those who deny Satan even at the very last second. It gave me hope for lost family members who I wasn’t sure where they were going.

A wonderful journey to over coming

This book for me is all about how God works in our lives and reaches us even in a coma. The miracle of being given a second chance at life, and a healed heart when there was really no chance for survival, gives hope to others in similar circumstances. Overcoming all the obstacles in the coma as well as in recovery is truly inspiring.

Couldn't get enough

Like God, we exist as a trinity: body, mind, and spirit. This book tells a fascinating story of a heart that was drastically transformed in all three of these areas. Barb's descriptions of her coma dreams were enthralling, and the insights and interpretations offered by the doctor resonated with my own spirit. I couldn’t get enough, from beginning to end. I would recommend this book to anyone who is on the journey of faith and self-discovery.

Captivating story of God’s Grace!

I loved this story! I listened to the audio book and it was so gripping that I had to keep listening. There were many twists to the story but yet because of the organized way it is written, it is very cohesive and an easy listen. I enjoyed the various perspectives of the dreams which brought understanding to a confusing situation. I recommend this book to anyone- young or old, especially to those who are intrigued by the human psyche and how God works in and through His creation. We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made!
