Publisher's summary

Venezuela's overcrowded prison system is hell on earth. Murders, corruption, and gang wars are nothing out of the ordinary. On a humid summer's day in the state of Vargas, a new prisoner arrives at "El Infierno", the country's most notorious gulag. Newcomers are subject to savage beatings. They're treated as slaves by the general prison population.

But not this time....

Because the fresh arrival is ex-US black ops mercenary Jason King, locked up without a trial, determined to work out who falsely charged him with murder - and why. He wonders which inmate will provoke him first and unleash who he used to be....

Another jack reacher wannabe

It seems to be the only story line out there: retired military special forces goes around the world getting into trouble and miraculously always saving the day. But you will like king I have to admit because the author does not waste time explaining the military stuff and goes straight into the story. I am on book three. He is worth reading.

Surprisingly Good

I was really prepared to dislike this book. I only downloaded it because I like to read a series in order. When King got thrown in prison I honestly thought it was going to be one of those books where the protagonist is continually getting beat half to death and is struggling to survive, getting beat down every time he tries to get ahead. I should have known better. Not with this character. Good plot, lots of interesting twists. Well worth a listen. The whole series is.

Excellent listen..

This was a good story, about our hero, Jason King, who was dumped into a prison for life in Venezuela for pissing a really bad guy off. But, really, it was a terrible name for a book since Jason only spent 2 days there before he escaped with his friend Raul. And then they decided to go after the guy who put them in there, Rico and his band of drug dealers.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 64 times.

As for the narration: Roger Wayne did an excellent job.

Just one thing after another

Never does the book slow down. Interesting and unusual story line. First book we have listened to by this author. Looking to get the next one.

A little macho but good

The main character does some other worldly things and you can tell the author is a fan of 80’s action movies lol. Overall not bad just a little over the top.

Good, Bad Guy

I have listened to the other Jason King books. This was just as good. I’m happy that it ended with a positive outcome.

Sequel is better then the first...

This is book two in the Jason King series. In this book King is in Venezuela following an ordeal in Australia involving his black ops handler. He has plenty of money and lots of time to do what ever he wants. He's staying in a luxury hotel and trying to learn to relax. Following a work out in the hotel gym the police arrive m, he's arrested and with no trial put into one of the worst prisons in Venezuela for life. No one has ever escaped.
In this book a little more background is given on the protagonist. He is also much less Reacher-ish. In this book he is a little more of a bad a**, and the reader is reminded of this a few times during the book when someone would say to him that he doesn't know who he's dealing with and he'll tell them or someone else that they don't know who they're dealing with. He also alludes to more than one other prisoner that he was more than just DELTA even though he knows he shouldn't. There is a very twisted reason why he was put in prison and an even more twisted antagonist or two or three!
Anyway this is a very good, fast paced, action packed thriller. So far only two books are on Audible out of seven in the series. I am hoping the rest make it onto audio as I would like to listen to them and see how this character progresses as well as the author's writing style.
Roger Wayne does a very good job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It is all about the plot, action, and suspense!

Imprisoned is Book 2 in the Jason King series. By all means read the publlisher's summary before purchasing this audio novel. Author Matt Rogers again avoids the tendency of extreme action thrillers sacrificing the plot to increase the amount of action. The plot of Imprisoned is rock solid even as protagonist performs super-human feats. Reading or listening to fiction of necessity requires the ability to suspend disbelief concerning events so long as the plot is solid. Narration is superb.
