Publisher's summary

Fate brought us together, but the sins of my past threaten to rip us apart.

In a city ruled by corruption and powerful men, only the ruthless survive. And that's just what I am. Like father, like son. The life I lead is riddled with black tie affairs and dark secrets.

A simple mistake destroyed a woman I knew nothing about. She was only a name and a beautiful face in a photograph. Her fairytale life was shattered, but I didn't give a damn.

Or at least I thought I didn't care, until she stumbled into me.

One look, and I was tempted. One taste, and I was hooked.

It wasn't supposed to turn into this. She's a good girl from the Upper East Side, innocent and naive. She's ashamed to be moving on so quickly.

Especially with a man like me. Someone who could tarnish her sterling reputation and make the crack in her picture-perfect frame splinter even deeper.

We both know this was only meant to be a one-time thing. But I'll never have my fill of her.

Now she has me wrapped around her little finger, using me to get through her pain. I'm addicted to her soft moans and the way her nails scratch down my back.

I'm starting to need her just as much as she needs me.

I'll protect her from the truth as long as I can.

But even if she finds out, I'm not letting her leave me.

She's mine now.

Imperfect is the first book in the new series, Sins and Secrets: Series of Duets by Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author Willow Winters. It is book one of a two-book duet.

Enjoyed while I was listening

Part 1 of 2. Romantic Suspense.
I listened to Imperfect by Willow Winters a few weeks ago and I’m finally catching up on reviews. I review every book I finish, and I planned to review this as well, but despite my notes, I just can’t remember enough about it, so for the first time, I went and read some reviews before I wrote mine in order to spark my memory. Sadly, it didn’t work very well, so I will be writing a brief review just from my notes.

I listened to Imperfect right before Wicked Book Weekend because I was trying to fit in as many Wicked authors as I could before the event. Silly me, I didn’t realize it was the first in a duet, and didn’t really budget the time for two books, but I intended to come back for part 2. Now that I can’t remember part 1 enough, I won’t be listening to Unforgiven.

Part of the reason I didn’t grab the next one up immediately was because I felt kind of depressed when I listened to this story. Jules just had so much to deal with. And Mason - arrogant, secretive and so hot! He KNEW he needed to stay away from her, but he couldn’t help himself, and the chemistry was palpable.

Julia lost her husband 8 months before meeting Mason. There was a lot going on with her husband that she is just starting to find out. Mason had more secrets that can totally affect her and he knew he should stay away but he just couldn’t.
"She's Little Red Riding Hood in [eff] me heels and I'm worse than the Big Bad Wolf"

Likes:

•Lots of suspense and secrets.
•Sexy.
•I loved Mason despite his secrets. He was deliciously alpha.
•Poems at the beginning of the chapters.
•Kept me guessing.

Dislikes:

•Didn’t stay with me enough to pick up the next 3 weeks later.
•Her POV was kind of rambling, I never fell in love with the heroine.
•I couldn’t stand her friends.
•It finally picked up towards the end and left with a cliffhanger.

The Narration:
They were both great narrators and it was a pleasure to hear new voices for a change.

The Down & Dirty:
I really enjoyed Imperfect when I was listening to it, but as soon as I moved on to my next read I completely forgot about it. Now 3 weeks later, I don’t remember enough to read the next in the series. According to my notes, I have a few frustrated “What is happening?” notes (which is good in romantic suspense), and a few notes that indicate it was a bit depressing at times, but I did look forward to the next. But at the time, not enough to grab it right then, and now I have just lost interest. I would totally read Willow again, and may re-listen to this in the future and update this review accordingly.

What an Ending!

The poetic edge to this book, I think, is a phenomenal idea! Mason is...well...not 100% sure what yet, but I can't wait to see what happens!

Love the Narrators

This is the first time I’ve ever heard anything by these narrators and they did such a terrific job. They really brought Mason and Jules to life in a good way.

You could feel the chemistry of Mason and Jules through the pages of this book. There were so many twists that you were not sure who to believe and even though I finished reading it. It does end on a cliffhanger.

Totally not worth the time

The narration was bland...I felt both narrators were reading from a script...seems all they did together was sex ...I am not impressed

Story is too bland

I kept trying to get in to the story, but it's really very bland and rather boring. Characters have no depth, and are rather annoying. Yawn.

My First Willow Winters Read

This was a good book. Very nicely written and I loved Patrick Garret's read.

Mason and Jewels fall in love with each out for all the wrong reasons. They are two people, each in a very dark place in their own lives when they come together.

Although I enjoyed this story there seems to be a lot missing. However I'm sure the answers will be in the next book series that follows this story.

Interesting start to this series!

The whole time I was listening to this...I didn't want to stop...except...I didn't really care for the female narrator. :(

The storyline was good, but this ends as a cliffy...Just an FYI. Towards the end I was kind of like "Wait...did I miss a section?" but no. There was a huge jump in the story with no transition. I am going to listen to the next book in the series because I am hooked, but I hope I enjoy it more than this one.

What just happened?

What did I just listen to? Willow Winters what have you done? This book took me by complete surprise. I have whiplash and have no words. I loved the poems before each chapter. The narration was excellent as well.
