Publisher's summary

Passion erupts in this masterfully dark, enemies-to-lovers, thriller from best-selling and award-winning author Lydia Michaels.

There is nothing more sacred than the immortal vow of bonded mates, but when Delilah Starling is transitioned against her will and taken captive by a savagely beautiful immortal, she pledges to fight his dominant rule to her last breath.

Christian Schrock, an elder of The Order, hunted and possessively claimed his mortal mate as was his right. His irrevocable actions, however, sparked challenges he never anticipated.

Subjected to live under the patriarchal reign of an ancient society, Delilah battles the oppressive traditions forcing her to submit to a life she did not choose, and a man she does not love. Christian must convince her that she belongs to him, but the unruly female refuses to see past the brutal betrayal that founded their relationship.

Lust and tension dominate this dark world of paranormal suspense in an explosive continuation of the unmatched and fiercely unique series, The Order of Vampires!

Wow this series gets better and better!

There is always so much going on in these stories. You get the main story, but also the story of others in the group. Christian finds his mate, Delilah and doesn't give her a choice before bringing her back to the farm. At first, I struggled a bit with it because of the lack of choice and I could see where some people may have an issue with it, but this is a story about vampires, hello, so I let the story play out and so glad I did.

The hate turns into the brightest passion between Christian and Delilah as their bond grows stronger and she starts to figure out this new life. We get more of the story about his mother and father and the threat that his father still is to the order. Dane, Gracie and Sybil's stories are still unwinding as well as the witch. The Hartzlers weren't in this one quite as much, but I absolutely loved it and I hope that this series goes on for many, many books. There are soooo many stories to be told! Great read!

Great Story & Listen🎧 A Wild & Fascinating Ride!

Lydia Michaels pens another winning novel, a fascinating paranormal romance novel set in her amazing “Order of Vampires” series. The story had me hooked from the very start, and I could not pull myself away from it until the very end. The writing, plot and world building are phenomenal, as are the character growth and development. And the character are easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to root for, too. Delilah Starling, a tattoo artist struggling to make ends meet, but she made the monthly rent and has work lined up for her. She goes out for a drink after work and that is when she meets him, Christian Schrock. Delilah’s steamy and rewarding night turns into something she never would have imagined, an abduction to a whole other lifestyle and world. Christian is relieved to find his mate, since time was running out and the outcome for those who do not find their fated mates is not good. No one told him how hard it was going to be once he found her. Christian lives a simple life without modern conveniences, but there is nothing simple about him or the people in his community. Delilah is feisty and does not make it easy for Christian, she likes her modern day conveniences, but that is not all she needs to get used to. The hierarchy is not something she can easily accept or even get used to. But she soon learns she does not have much of a choice. It was great watching these two get to know each other despite her reluctance and determination to be her own person. Christian saw things his way and probably the only way he knew, but it was nice to see him make compromises. Besides the building of their relationship and her adapting to her new life, there are some interesting side stories happening on the farm. I loved originality and all the layers of this story, and how the descriptive details immerse you in the characters' experiences. Lydia Michaels, thank you for another amazing story and the wide emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Lucinda Gainey does an amazing job bringing the characters and story to life. She was great covering the roles for both the male and female characters, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Her portrayal of the characters was spot on and she was believable in every role. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. Ms. James is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fantastic listen.

Impeccable narration!

Every since I stumbled across this series with the first book, I have become a dedicated fan. Putting vampires and the Amish in the same world was truly unique. Christian was always the strict rule follower and I couldn't wait to see who Lydia gave him as a fated mate. Delilah was his opposite in every way. By choosing to bring her into his life in the way he did, he definitely had a tough road ahead. Their interactions had me laughing my butt off one minute to getting really hot the next. With every new book in this series, the unique plot remains and gets better and better. I love that the author continues to surprise me. This book can be read as a standalone but it is enjoyed so much more if read in order from book one, Original Sin. I highly recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

*Edited to add after listening to the audiobook. With every new book in this series, I look forward to the narration. Lucina Gainey's narration is always top notch and a highlight added to the already original story plot. Christian and Delilah were brought to life with incredible talent and had me thoroughly loving my second read through. I can’t wait for what comes next!
