Publisher's summary

A family has been massacred in their home, a display of violence both brutal and bizarre. The details prove curious - not only are the bodies savaged way beyond anything found at a normal murder scene, every mirror in the house has been shattered.

The spectacle shocks a peaceful island community, and when local police turn to the FBI for assistance, Agent Violet Darger finds herself working another harrowing crime scene. She stares, once more, into the abyss, and mankind's warped reflection stares back.

Short story, totally skippable

Good narrative but the story was very short and not exactly entertaining. I do like the series thus far.

Excellent Short

Good, hardboiled detective story. Yes, it's short, but it's also cheap. Well worth a couple of bucks, and it sets a good scene for future Darger books. I'm already a fan of the authors, and I love when they do their own narration, but the actress they picked for this series did a great job.

What does the image in a cracked mirror signify?

This novella is a great segway to the next book in the series, fleshing out Darger and Loshak's relationship and hinting at something lurking under the surface to come...

I've re-read and listened to this several times, looking for hints that gave away the killer. I didn't spot him the first time. Hindsight is 20/20 though, so maybe I'll be better at spotting the next one.

This is a brutal little book. Not for the squeamish. You've been warned.

Great Read

I really felt like I was in the story. The description was good. The story was easy to follow and a definite page turner. I was excited for the next book.

Good story, ends abruptly

The crime was grizzly. The characters were believable, and the potential bad guys were logical. My only problem with the story was that the jump from questioning the three suspects to the reveal was abrupt. I *personally* could have used a little more exposition at the end to justify the reasoning behind whey Darger and Loshak picked the suspect they did.

Wssted Credit For Short Story

Imagine my surprise when my credit went for a short story a little over 1 hour long. Although Narration was good.

What is this? And why did I waste an entire credit

Make sure and see how short this is before you buy it - completely pointless to the Violet Darger series and literally no mystery in the short story it did provide.
