Publisher's Summary

I'm a therapist, and I work with the most dangerous patients.

I've seen it all.... A boy who planned to be the next school shooter. A patient with OCD whose loved ones really did suffer every time he missed a ritual. A choir boy who claimed he was being molested - not by a priest - but by God Himself. A patient with PTSD who gave me nightmares. A husband and wife who accused each other of abuse, and only one of them was telling the truth.

And how could I ever forget Patient #220.

The problem is, my patients have a habit of dying. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the common denominator. Or maybe that's just the cost of taking on exceptionally broken clients.

Either way, I'll never stop trying to help.

Remember — it’s fiction

At first I thought that this book was a real account of a therapists wildest patients and I wondered how many ethical violations that was... upon further investigation I realized that this was originally a reddit thread. It’s clear that even if the original author was using characters based off of real patients that the book highly dramatizes and fictionalizes these characters and events. I found some of the stories very suspenseful and thrilling and others to be a little cheesy but overall I liked it and I found myself wanting to listen to it while I drove, worked out, or even before bed. I recommend!

Love this book! New to Dr. Harper but Bravo! My husband is a psychologist so these are wildly interesting. On top the next files and you have A HUGE fan now!

Not based on reality

As long as you don’t mind outlandish stories that are not based in reality it is enjoyable but not for me. Good narration though.

My New Favorite

My friend suggested this book to me a while ago and I kept getting ads for it. I had a 7 hour drive ahead of me and music and podcasts just weren’t doing it for me anymore. I downloaded Audible and this was the one I chose as my free book. I’m so glad I did. The narrator has a voice to match Dr.Harper perfectly. The twists are so well written. The character developments are amazing. I finished the book during the trip and listened to it again on my trip back home. I can’t wait until the second book is on here!

Wow!!!

Had to take a long ride with my daughter after not much sleep. Got this book. My daughter and I were mesmerized. We didn’t want to get out of the car because the story wasn’t over.
My daughter downloaded the audible app just to finish the story. Can’t wait til the next group of stories comes out.
Unpredictable, fresh.

Fun! But a bit silly at times

I was hoping for a psychological thriller from the title. The story is more of a detective mystery. Still fun! But a bit more silly than I thought it would be. Don't go in expecting a realistic story.

Dreadful, cliche and childish

I really should have done more research, this audiobook is up there with some of the worst I have ever come across. The stories themselves are terribly cliche and more akin to a 10 year old writing. The book is disjointed and tenuous at the best of times. I was truly expecting the ending to be a long the lines of ‘I woke up and it was all a dream’

Sadly this is a book with adult content levelled at children and I cannot recommend it whatsoever.

Why has this got such good reviews?!

Unbelievable stories, 'protagonist' who is just awful, gcse level understanding of psychology. Would not recommend

The narrative does not make sense

The timeline does not make any sense. Characters change wildly as well as their motivations.

Read it at reddit, bought it at audible

I bought this just for the note but I am pleasantly surprised at the audio book since the expressions seems more brighter than when you just read it. Overall, I enjoyed the special end note and will support more of Dr Harper's patient file!

I managed to get through it…just!

I should have looked into this a bit more before I downloaded it! I originally thought it was true stories from a therapist about different patients but it turned out to be a relatively mediocre crime thriller, mystery, type of story.

The individual stories/patient files weren’t too bad but It was a struggle to get to the end as it descended into a very ‘thrown together’ finish trying to cram them all into one finale.

Meh…

Pretty awful

It's hard to imagine how this could be any worse.
Poorly written, ill convinced attempt to get a TV series. Like the worst episode of Sherlock or Dr Who you can imagine.

Well that wasn’t what I was expecting!

Okay, so I am a mental health nurse in the UK and took a look a the title and description and thought “Hey, this looks intriguing, give it a bash.” Little did I know that my mind would be blown! The stories and twists and turns were enthralling and I only wish I had had more time on my bus journeys to and from work so I could listen to more! Brilliant. Sad it’s over and hoping for a sequel…

Wish I’d researched first

Got sucked in by social media ad - assumed this was going to be a real life memoir, it’s actually a creepy pasta/Reddit style fiction. It’s Dan Brown style of writing (which I can’t stand) but the stories are original/far fetched and probably a good read if you like that sort of thing

Really enjoyable

If you’re the sort of person who appreciates a good creepypasta, you’ll love this. If you hate creepypastas, then you’ll likely hate this. It’s a really enjoyable listen, though not at all sophistically written. It’s a little like the sort of thing you’d read on Reddit or tumblr, but honestly not the worst. It was a nice listen to pass the time.
