Publisher's summary

Ronin McKinsey broke up with Hazel Simmons in the worst way - publicly and with a lot of fanfare - and now she’s on a mission to make sure he realizes what he lost. Determined to make her ex jealous, Hazel enlists the help of Daniel, a quirky loner who agrees to kiss her right in front of Ronin. Little does Hazel know, Daniel has plans of his own and offers to help her stick it to her ex if she helps him find a date to prom.

Hazel quickly learns there’s more to Daniel than meets the eye, and Daniel seems to be just what she needs to get even - or get over - Ronin McKinsey. With hijinks, hilarious misunderstandings, and drama around every corner, Hazel and Daniel find more than a mutual understanding between them. They find friendship - the kind that lasts forever. A young adult novel perfect for fans of fake boyfriends, quirky characters, swoonworthy sweetness, and clean romance.

Good story

But there were some sound quality issues throughout. Nothing too bad or excessive. Narration was ok the story was fun and light and a fairly quick listen.

sweet

Hazel is a very intense teenager. She always go big or go home. And that’s why her boyfriend, Ronan, dumped her very publicly. But she has a plan, she will find Daniel a date to prom and he will help her win back Ronan. But the more they interact the more they like each other. A sweet love story. The audiobook is good

Hilarious RomCom

I enjoyed this first book in the "I'm Pretty Sure About That Series". Hazel believed in expressing her love to her boyfriend in a big way. When Hazel's actions overwhelmed her boyfriend, Ronin dumped her. Daniel offered to help Hazel get Ronin back, if Hazel would help him get a date for prom. The story was touching and funny. The characters were sweet. I'm looking forward to more books in this series. Rebekah Torkelson's narration was fine, but I found that she announced "the end" at the end of the chapter and then proceeded to announce the next chapter plus the complete title of the book. I found this irritating. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

High School Clean Romance

Parents- PG-PG13 fine for middle school and up
Language- none
Violence- none
Sexual Content- really pretty clean, there's a point where she's thinking about going all the way but doesn't want to break her promise to wait for marriage.

Really a pretty sweet and fun high romance. It's a great read for the middle school to high school reader. Very Hallmark style story, not in a bad way.

I do have a rant to get off my chest with a side character in this book, so please excuse me but it hit a cord. I have a blind daughter and this book perpetuates a couple of the really bad blind stereotypes that cause people to treat my daughter so badly. You get introduced to Daniel's blind sister who instantly attacks the MC by feeling her face and tells her she has a very lovely symmetrical face. Blind people don't do that, and especially never without asking!!! They have social skills if people will only give them a chance, they do not attack people. Having an instrument close to their ear is not anymore helpful to them then any other musician and they can play any instrument and do most things a sighted person can if only differently... for instance they do go to the movies, rock climb and can even ski. I would really love an author & just the media in general to do some research and speak to a few blind people before trying to portray them... Outside of this book I will try to correct other media and people misconceptions: Not all blind people where sunglasses or "look" blind. Only 2-8% use a white cane and even less use a guide dog so there are many people you come in contact with that you may not know is visually impaired or blind. Many only have the sight disability yet are treated as if the can't hear or do anything at all, and they do not "speak Sign Language." 70% are unemployed not by choice but are unable to get a job due to discrimination and view that they aren't "able" to do the job. There are blind youtubers that are also trying to help change the public perception like: Molly Burke, James Rath, Tommy Edison, Tim Cook, Kristy Viers, and an amazing painter John Bramblitt.

Narrator's voice really fit the main character (sounded young) and was fun to listen to. Preferred listening at 1.25x speed. The one thing I found irritating was the narrator announced the end of each chapter and then at the beginning of each chapter would read the book title, author, narrator and chapter number... felt very disruptive to the story and unnecessary.

Cute story, difficult narration

Ronin and Hazel have been dating for one year and she decides that it needs a real celebration. She orders 365 helium balloons, but a mixup in the order sends 3650 of them. Needless to say, it was a little overpowering, but Ronin reacts as if Hazel's committed some sort of a crime. He laments that everything she does is OTT, he can't deal with it and breaks up with her in front of the entire school. The next day, Hazel sees Ronin, cozying up to her former best friend, and she grabs the guy in front of her and asks him to kiss her! Daniel has no idea what's happening but, after just a little thought, it seems like a great idea! They quickly become good friends, but Hazel wants Ronin back and Daniel will help her as long as she can get him a prom date. The story is filled with NA angst, snotty behavior, mean girls and those who put them in their place and the realization that falling in love can't be planned. I love Daniel and he has to be the most swoony, kind and smartest boyfriend ever. The narrator must have been new because she basically read the portions of the chapter that aren't voiced. "End of chapter one" Then the new chapter began with her reading the title, author and narrator's names. It was difficult, at best, to listen to it and even worse to anticipate it with each chapter. There was little distinction between Daniel's and Hazel's voices and sometimes I had to listen to the context to figure out who was speaking. I hope this was a one off for the narrator.

SWEET, DRAMATIC & FUNNY. ENJOYED IT ALOT

STORY WAS CLEAN, WELL WRITTEN AND EASY TO FOLLOW.

ACCEPTABLE FOR PRE-TEENS AND UP. CLEAN. BUT DOES HAVE SOME HIGHSCHOOL DRAMA AND BULLYING.

NARRATOR WAS GOOD AND EASY TO FOLLOW.

cute story, terrible narration

I really wanted to like this story, which was pretty good, the narration, however, was terrible:
1) Every chapter ended with "end of chapter _". This is totally unnecessary!
2) Every chapter begun with the full title of the story, including the author and narrator's names and the number of the chapter. This was annoying as hell!
3) The narrator sounded like she was forced to narrate the story - not a good sound...
4) The quality of the recording is poor, and sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel.
5) Didn't anyone tell you to turn your ringer off while you're recording???
